Roy W. Smith Set to RetireFrom Union County CollegeRoy W. Smith of Elizabeth. Union

Comity College's Secretary to theBoard'of Trustees and Board of Gov-ernors, and former Vice President forInvitational Advancement will re-tire effective Wednesday. July 1. after41 years of distinguished service tothe college community.

For 16 months during 1989 andi990, Mr. Smith had served as Act-ing Union Countv College President.

He joined the college staff in 1957as Director of Public Relations, andwas appointed as the college's firstVice President in 1967 with the titleof Vice President for College Rela-tions.

He held the titles of Vice PresidentforAdministrativeSemcesand Pub-lic Affairs; Vice President for Plan-ning, Development and Public Af-fairs, and Vice President for Devel-opment and Institutional Advance-ment

Mr. Smith waselected as Secretaryof the Board of Trustees of the formerUnion College in 196S, and held thatpost through 1982. Following themerger of Union College with theformer Union County Technical In-stitute in Scotch Plains, he was electedas Secretary of the Board of Trusteesand Board of Governors—positionshe still holds-
