1. Assessment &
2. Reporting
Enabling students to achieve their academic,
personal and social potential.
The goal of all assessment is to
judge how the student is progressing
towards achieving their potential at
the end of Key Stage Four.
Year 7 students will be taking at least
two formal tests in most of their
subjects this year.
Their teachers will then compare their test results to each student’s ‘flight path.’
A student’s ‘flight path’ is a 9-1 GCSE grade which we would be expecting them to achieve at the end of Key Stage Four.
A student’s ‘flight path’ is based on their starting point at the end of Key Stage Two.
New GCSE
grade:
Provisional forecast of how current GCSE grades will approximate to the
new GCSE grades although this may vary slightly between subjects
9 Top A* performers; around the top half of the 6.8 per cent who got A*s this
year are likely to achieve this.
8 Approximately the bottom half of the 6.8 per cent who got A*s this year are
likely to achieve this.
7 Equivalent to an A grade pass.
6 Top third of a current B grade pass.
5 Bottom two thirds of a current B grade pass.
4 Equivalent to a current C grade pass.
3 Equivalent to a current D grade pass.
2 Equivalent to a current E grade pass.
1 Equivalent to grade F and G passes.

Assessment becomes
progressively more
challenging each year. Year 11
Grade 5
Eventually students will
be graded according to
actual GCSE criteria.
We will track, monitor and report the following information:
a) Progress made.
b) Assessment results.
c) Type of student.
d) Tutor comments.
Reports will state whether the student is exceeding, meeting or falling below expected progress.
Progress judgements will be largely or exclusively based on objective assessments.
Where appropriate, the
report will include the result
of the latest formal
assessment in that subject.
Reigate 5:
1) Motivation for learning
2) Behaviour for learning
3) Organisation for learning
4) Co-operation for learning
5) Mindset for learning
Each scored on a 1 – 4 basis with staff and parents given best fit descriptors for each criterion.
Every Year 7 student will have one tutor report at
the end of the year.
This will be a free hand comment by the tutor
and reflect the achievements by the student over
the year.
Will be holistic i.e. reflect the student overall and
not just specific aspects or achievements.
