This practice teaching portfolio was prepared and developed to provide and share

experiences for those who will undergo the same undertakings. Some classroom difficulties and

problems that she had encountered are mentioned, and the lesson that she had learned. The

greatest value of this practice teaching portfolio is that it serves as the mirror of the practice

teacher for their progress and achievement in their practice teaching. And also this practice

teaching portfolio was prepared to expose the pre-service teacher experiences so that they can

use it in relating their theories learned inside the classroom to become globally competitive.

Another purpose of this practice teaching portfolio is that it assess the pre-service teacher’s

learning for the preparation in future life in facing the real world of teaching. The pre-service

teacher must do always their best in imparting knowledge to the students. Just love your students

so in return your students will be embracing you too, with the great things you’ve done to them

not only in cognitive side but in affective and psychomotor development.

Page 10: Shiela a Pre-service Teaching Portfolio

Help me to be a fine teacher, to keep peace in the classroom,

peace between my students and myself, to be kind and gentle

to each and every one of my students.

Help me to be merciful to my students, to balance mercy and

discipline in the right measure for each student, to give genuine praise as much as possible, to

give constructive criticism in a manner

that is palatable to my students.

Help me remain conscientious enough to keep my lessons

always interesting, to recognize what motivates each of my students,

to accept my student's limitations and not hold it

against them.

Help me not to judge my students too harshly, to be fair to all,

to be a good role model, but most of all Lord, help me to show

your love to all of my students.

Amen.

A teacher should believe in the intended processes and activities to produce desirable

changes in the behavior of students. We must believe in the capacity to effect these changes,

promote and facilitate these changes through the mastery of the subject matter and the use of

appropriate methods and techniques of teaching.

The philosophy is that people must believe in something. According to John Dewey,

education is by its nature an endless circle spiral. It is an activity, which includes science,

because in its process, it raises problems to be studied which then reacts upon demanding more

through, more science in an everlasting sequence.

This definition of education makes it imperative to a person to have a philosophy of

education and beliefs in the function of teaching.

A teacher also functions as manipulator of teaching learning situations. As a

manipulator, she believes in her ability to create a series of operations directed to change specific

behavior. These are just the parts of a teacher’s educational philosophy.

As a student teacher, she must believe in something that will eventually help her in

setting the goal of her life. This will focus on the values and objectives of the new social order;

the will help the teacher in analyzing and organizing her objectives; crystallizing the thoughts

that will serve as a guide to prevent a teacher from getting lost their maze of her many-faceted

chores. The school occupies premier place in the construction of the society, particularly in the

matter of changing the attitudes toward community. The role of the teacher plays will be a

crystallizer and an evaluator of the educational program under the democratic society.

This pictures was taken last February 23, 2015 (Monday). This is a year-end activity of my students in my subject Cosmetology specifically the make-up and application. This event was organized by me and also with some help of my cooperating teacher. This activity shows all the learnings that they learned from the subject. I let them to wear the best dress or gowns that they can wear, fix themselves and let them put make-up with the proper application. This is activity serve as their final requirement of my handle 4th year students. There are some students who are not participate with this activity on the day that I scheduled, so those students who are not participated with that day, I gave them a chance to ramp in the other day.

Upon making with this event I realize something. “Organizing programs alone like this is not easy”. I need to make an extra efforts. It was a great experience to organize this kind of program. It’s my first time! This pictures was taken last February 23, 2015 (Monday). This is a year-end activity of my students in my subject Cosmetology specifically the make-up and application.

In the end of this activity everything was successful. With the help of my cooperating teacher, some of my students, for their participation, and to the whole TLE department for the support. I would be not possible if you don’t help me.

This picture was taken at Dasmariñas National High School Last March 3, 2015 (Tuesday) together with Maricar Galanto and Maam Tess Moldogo. We went there because ma’am Tess needs a company. We observed the final demonstration of Rhymel Pollitude, our classmate.

The school is so big. And there is an agricultural place, or a big garden for the agriculture students. We observed in the demonstration of our classmate, we saw how the other teachers formulate their lesson plans, and taught by their student teachers like rhymel, and it was very different! And we learned more from ma’am Tess about lesson planning too.

Student Teaching is the actual Teaching and our major role and responsibility. During

this period, we need to act like a professional teacher.

After three months observations, we are now to apply all the knowledge and good things

we got during our observation period. But before that, there is some orientations that were given

to us on how to perform our duties and responsibilities’ as a student teacher. All teacher with

concern especially our practicum coordinators professor Sheryl Morales and professor Marilyn

Isip, for us to be ready and capable enough to handle different kinds of student and apply all

principles and methods that we have learned in our years of schooling.

November 25, 2014, it is a pleasure to see once again my Alma matter, and my former

teachers and the students of Holy Spirit National High School.

Together with my co-practice teachers, we did the draw lots method wherein we need to

pick a name of the cooperating teacher. And I assigned to ma’am Neizel B. Alburo, a master

teacher 1 in TLE department, and I handled fourth year students in the subject of Cosmetology

especially in make-up and application. The first two days was my observation days. On the third

day, It was November 28, 2014, when I started to teach the first lesson in IV-Amethyst, Zircon,

Beryl, Diamond, and Pearl. During my first week of teaching, it was very hard for me to act like

a real teacher, making lesson plans and visual aids at night. I felt tired during the first week of

my teaching. I was always thinking what am I going to do on how can I execute my lesson well.

But I was lucky enough to have a very approachable and supportive cooperating teacher because

she was always willing to help and support me, share ideas and suggestions to the fullest.

Another important part of teaching was on how to deal and building rapport with my

pupils. During this period, I felt the joy as I was imparting knowledge to them and in return, they

gave me support and respect.

With this in my actual practice teaching, I realized being a teacher is very challenging

and enjoyable although it is very difficult task but then, with the student who’s eager to learn,

cooperative, funny and sweet as inspire the teacher to teach. This was the first time I realized and

probe to myself what my teacher told us before that teaching is the most enjoyable and inspiring

profession.

The much-awaited time of every student-teacher was the final demonstration teaching.

February 18, 2014 at 11:30 in the morning was the schedule of my general demonstration. I’m

ready to the demonstration, all the devices, lesson plan, and the food that my parents brought to

the TLE faculty are well prepared. I feel the nervous in that day! But through the support and

encouragement given to us by the teachers including our students who always there to make us

smile we gather all our strength and confidences to begin our lesson.

After the demonstration we held short post conference together with TLE head ma’am

Elena D. Zamora, ma’am Amie Q. Cuasto, another master teacher in TLE, and also with my

cooperating teacher ma’am Neizel B. Alburo, to discuss about the result of our demonstration.

Page 24: Shiela a Pre-service Teaching Portfolio

They discussed to me the positive and also the negative feedbacks upon my demonstration. I am

happy because my demonstration ended successfully and with the positive feedbacks. They

welcome me in the world of teaching and all of this is through the help of our Jesus Christ. We

continue our practice teaching until March to finish the time needed.

Then the march was here, it’s time for me to say goodbye to my students and to my

cooperating teacher who are really attached already to me. I feel so sad. In three months that I

stay in Holy Spirit National High School was full of memories to keep. And I always be grateful

to have this wonderful experiences.

PROPER LESSON Our Lesson for today is about Steps

how to apply eye shadow So let’s discuss the steps how to put

the eye shadow.

STEP 1:Apply your lightest

color. Normally called a highlighter

shade, this is typically a creamy nude

eyeshadow. Use your stiff flat brush to

put this on the inner corners of your

eyes, sweeping it up and down to

gather just slightly on the upper and

lower lash line. Apply a light sweep of

it as well just below your eyebrows.

“Why is that applying the lightest

color of eye shadow is in the first

step?”

One or two students will answer the question.

Page 37: Shiela a Pre-service Teaching Portfolio

STEP 2: Add your middle hue. Take

your color that is one step darker than

your lightest - you medium shade. Use

your flat brush to pat this color over

the entirety of your lid, from your lash

line to your crease. Don’t go too much

further above your crease or outwards

from the corner of your eye.

STEP 3: Contour your lid with your

darkest shade. Use your dome brush

with your darkest eye shadow color to

contour your eyelid. Start at the

outside corner of your eye, and sweep

the brush in a half-moon motion up

and around to the center of your

crease. Keep the shadow the darkest

along your lash line, and fade it out as

you move up. Feel free to draw the

shadow up towards the end of your

eyebrow a bit for an angled fan.

“Why do we need to contour and put

the darkest shades of the eye shadow

in our eyelids?”

One student will answer the question.

Page 38: Shiela a Pre-service Teaching Portfolio

STEP 4: Blend your eye

shadows. Clean your dome brush with

antibacterial brush cleaner or soap and

water, and dry it on a clean towel. Use

your clean brush to blend along the

edges of your shadow so that they fade

nicely into your skin tone, as well as

along your eyelid so that your three

colors blend together. Use soft,

sweeping brush strokes to blend the

shadows.

“For you what is the importance of

knowing the steps in applying eye

shadow?”

“Is there any questions regarding to

our topic? If there is no questions we

will watch a video, for you to

understand more.

After watching the video the teacher

will do the demonstration on applying

eye shadow.

CLOSING ACTIVITIES

GeneralizationYou don’t have to be expert or a beauty guru to have a beautiful eyes, perfecting your shadow routine on your lids is easy with few quality supplies and a little practice.

Values Integration

Three students will answer the question.

None ma’am

( The students will watch the video)

The students will make the return demonstration after their teacher.

Page 39: Shiela a Pre-service Teaching Portfolio

The learners will enhance their

creativity how to combine colors of

eye shadow and also a good follower

to the steps that are given according to

the lesson.

Application

C. MOTIVATION Ask the students about shapes. Let them to pick one from the box of different shapes. When they already got a shape, ask them what are you thinking when you see that shape. After that sharing relate the questions to the new lesson which is the different shapes of

the eye shadow.

D. LESSON PROPER

 Highlights

Makeup is, after all, just a trick of the light. By highlighting certain areas, you can easily create the illusion of a brighter eye. Using lighter shades in areas to help them stand out, and deeper shades to add depth, pushing them back.

The spots to highlight are the inner corner of the eye, the center of the eyelid, and along the brow bone.

Page 43: Shiela a Pre-service Teaching Portfolio

Placing highlights in these three areas will help accentuate the eye and overall leave them looking bigger and brighter.

Inner Corner:

Add a darker shadow to the inside of the lid. This is a great placement for those of you with wide set eyes, as it helps reduce the space between your eyes.

Outer Corner:

Adding dark shades to the outer corner of the lid is flattering to most eye shapes, but particularly for those with close set eyes. Having the darkest part on the far side of the lid helps your eyes appear farther apart.

Page 44: Shiela a Pre-service Teaching Portfolio

Both Corners:

This is a great shape for all, as it compliments most eye shapes. By adding the darkest shadow to both the inner and outer corners, while still highlighting in the other areas (as shown) this placement neither makes your eyes look smaller or larger. This shape is also very versatile, as it works well with both neutral or bold, dramatic colors.

Outer Corner, “Cat Shape”:

Pull your eye upwards with this cat eye shape by applying your darkest shadow to the outer corner in a large winged shape.

If your eyelids droop a little (or a lot), this shape will help pull them back up and give them that extra boost they need. This shape is notorious for being on the

devious side: the upwards angle of the shadow creates a more mysterious look.

Page 45: Shiela a Pre-service Teaching Portfolio

Outer Corner & Crease, Blended Upwards:

The darker shadow is applied to the outer corner and crease, and then blended up towards the brow, where it meets the highlighter and blends together with it.

Again, this is a great shape that is flattering on all eye types. It works especially well for those with hooded eyes. If you have hooded eyes, be sure to extend the shadows upward a little more so the color shows up with an open eye.

Banana:

This technique can make your eyes appear wider and your lid longer. Apply to the outer corner, carrying the dark shadow to just above your inner corner and blend together.

Whole Inner Part:

This shape isn’t for everyone. It’s quite a bit bolder and has the tendency to make some look angry or their eyebrows too heavy. We suggest trying it with lighter colors first to see if it’s a good fit for you.

Page 46: Shiela a Pre-service Teaching Portfolio

Just The Crease:

Apply the dark shadow neatly to the crease. This will help create more depth. If you add a lighter shadow to the lid your eye will appear much larger. This shape is typically known as a “cut crease”.

Whole Lid:

Apply dark shadow to the entire lid. This can be heavy on the eye, and very bold. Be careful using bright colors with this shape, if you are not looking to draw too much attention to your eyes.

GENERALIZATION:

Don’t be afraid to try new look, you might just find one you really love that is very suitable for you. Just combine different colors, textures, and finishes.

VALUES INTEGRATION:

The learners will enhance their creativity through combining different colors of the eye shadow that can create a new shape of eye shadow.

APPLICATION:

Divide students into ten groups.

Page 47: Shiela a Pre-service Teaching Portfolio

Base on the given list of different shapes of the eye shadow, assigned them by group.

Let them to demonstrate the shape of the eye shadow for each group. Facilitate them and check if they do the right way.
