Mrs. Mursuli Class

• Mrs. Mursuli class consists of 20 students, 12 boys and 8 girls in the morning and 22 students in the afternoon. She teaches those Spanish, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

• Her class has a welcoming decoration and student have extra supplies in the class to complete their assignments. The decoration due to the time of the year when I came to observe was almost gone. There was a sign by the door that said “Welcome to Mrs. Mursuli Class.”

DAY ONE OF SERVICE LEARNING HOURS

May 28, 2013. The children arrive to the classroom sat on their desk. The teacher invites children to the rug. They engage in a discussion about the weather, the day of the week, and some talk about their weekend experiences. Then she presides to take the attendance. Asking the children to name, who is absent? She sings a transition song and children returned to their desks.

This experience changed the view and expectation I had about children and classroom performance. The teacher that I was able to observe was an experience veteran in the public system. She has worked on the Kindergarten Class for over twenty years. Being able to observe her classroom management skills and how she addresses children’s individualities provided a broader view of an everyday problem. Mrs. Mursuli address ethnical identity and manage her classroom with ease . I felt that I did not fully benefit from the whole experience due to the fact the school year was on the final days. Never the less, it was a wonderful experience and I feel that I learn tremendously from it.
