LITURGY CORNERAs January ends, I wonder how many of our big orlittle New Year Resolutions are still ‘alive and well’ atthis point? If you are into the ‘resolution custom’, as
some of us are, have you already ‘kissed those ideas goodbye’getting back to the usual daily routine? Or are you still ‘strong-brave-and-true’ to your intentions? Some resolutions arelighthearted and of varying consequences. Others can bemonumental and life-altering such as a decision to refrain fromsome addiction which might be slowly killing us! I have a goodsuggestion for a resolution that’s somewhere in themiddle..Have you ever held a grudge? How did it feel? Is it softand warm and just wonderful or cold and hard and very lonely? You know there are just so many happy, hopeful things in life tohold on to-a little baby’s finger, an honest compliment, amemory of a wonderful encounter with a friend from long ago,a smile, a song, a possibility or tons of other things. If yourecognize that there might be ‘grudges’ in your life, let go ofthose old, cold barriers to peace and latch onto the warmfeeling that can only come from a generous, forgiving heart.Your ‘almost-new-year’ will take on a new freedom and you willhardly believe just how warm and welcoming your heart - andevery part of you - will be prepared to show God’s life and loveto the world around you. It’s also a wonderful way to begin thisJubilee Year of Mercy designated by Pope Francis. Have a blessed week! Lisa
FAITH AT HOMETalk to your children about Mass. If they areindifferent or don’t like to go to Mass, explain thatthere are some things that we do because they are
good for us, whether we feel like doing those things are not.Mass is not about feelings. It is about giving ourselves to God. Itis about discovering what purpose God has for our lives. Thebest way to help children of all ages is by the witness of yourown faith. If they see that going to Mass gives meaning to yourlife, they will begin to search for that meaning in their ownlives. Enjoy your week! Lisa

OLM ACADEMY UPCOMING EVENTSOLMA will celebrate Catholic Schools Weekbeginning this Sun 1/31 at the 11 AM Mass andincludes Pancake Breakfast from 8am - 12PM. Allare welcome and invited to attend. The theme thisyear is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith,Knowledge and Service”. The logo and theme, developed for NCSW, was in response to a desire fora theme that would last more than a year. This themewill be used for at least 3 years. The themesencompasses several concepts that are at the heart ofa Catholic education. First, schools are communities -small families in their own right, but also members ofthe larger community of home, church, city andnation. Faith, knowledge and service are threemeasures by which any Catholic school can andshould be judged. The logo features a swirl of colorsinteracting around a cross, which is at the center ofall Catholic education. The vibrancy of the colorsand the movement and shadows in the logo portraythe inner-connectivity and community life that arepresent in our Catholic schools.
