SEQTA Pages in Detail

Assessments

The Assessments screen gives you access to your child’s assessments and marks for each year they have

been at the School. If you have more than one child at JSR, you will need to select which child’s marks to

view before proceeding to the screen below.

1. Click the Assessments button to return to the previous menu option.

2. Click on Upcoming to view all upcoming assessments for all subjects.

3. Click on a subject to view just that subjects assessments

4. Click on an individual task to view more information

5. View released information. Teachers can release this information in stages.

PLEASE NOTE: Individual teachers can set the assessment dates in SEQTA Engage but these may NOT be

100% accurate. This is particularly so, for subjects where students see their teacher only once a week or

where events such as school sports carnivals have been rescheduled.

Courses

Courses refer to the teaching programmes available to students on the system. Students use this layout to

access resources, content and homework. Parents can use it to see what their child is studying at any point

in the year.

1. Click on the course you would like to view.

2. Click on Today to view the current week, or alternatively use the scroll bar below to view each week.

3. Click on Cover Page to view the current course outline.

Dashboard

The Dashboard is a screen that contains a summary of information about your child and should be the first

place you check to get an overall ‘view’. If you have more than one child, the information for all your

children will be displayed on the same page.

(Some of the sections on this screen have been covered for privacy reasons)

1. Here will show any unresolved absences that need to be resolved

Page 8: SEQTA Engage: Handbook for Secondary Parents€¦ · Assessments: This is where you will find your child [s Assessment Results, as well as a list of any Upcoming Assessments that

2. Here you will find any assigned homework

3. Here you will find any Pastoral Care notes

4. Here you will find your child’s timetable

Documents

Documents contain all of the procedures and policies of the School as relevant to parents. Many other

documents are also placed here. These include: booklists, School calendar, help documents and exam

information.

Documents are listed in categories and are usually in PDF format. They can be downloaded and opened by

clicking on the text title.

Notices

The Notices section is where the School daily notices are added and subsequently read to students in PCG

(Pastoral Care Group) each morning.

Students are also expected to check the Notices for anything that relates to them. Notices allow parents to

keep in touch with the day-to-day activities of the School.

Reports

Your child’s School reports can be accessed on SEQTA Engage in the Reports section. Once published by the

School, you will be able to see Interim, Semester One and Semester Two reports.

If you have more than one child at the School, you will need to select the child for whom you wish to view

the report before proceeding to the report selection screen.

Reports are issued as downloadable PDF documents so they can be printed at your Discretion or viewed on

screen. Parents will be sent an email when the latest reports are available on SEQTA Engage.

Depending on the length of time at the School, you will be able to access past reports from this screen also.

Click the grey box for the desired document and the report will immediately download and open. This

document can then be saved or printed if required.

Settings

On the Settings page, you can change your password and personalize your portal view by altering the

background if you wish. You can also turn off audio alerts when a new message is received.

Timetable

The Timetable section allows you to view the School’s weekly timetable for your child. JSR operates on a 5-day timetable. If you have more than one child enrolled at the School, you will need to select the appropriate child’s name before their timetable appears. The Timetable view will also tell you the lesson times and your child’s teacher for each subject.

Sending an email from your child’s Timetable

You can also send an email to your child’s teachers by navigating to the Timetable and clicking on a subject.

The option to send an email to the teacher is available and when clicked,

will open up an email client on your computer with the teacher’s email address already filled in. Compose

and send the email.

email Protocol

Parents will not receive an instantaneous response to an email. If a teacher is contacted outside of School

hours during the week, at a weekend or during the holidays, then a response will not be written before the

teacher returns to work. Teachers spend most of their working day teaching in the classroom and a teacher

may not be able to see or respond to an email immediately during the course of a teaching day.

Troubleshooting

You should have set your SEQTA Engage username to be the email address that you have provided to the School. If you have forgotten your password, you may request a new password through the Forgot your password? function on the Login screen of SEQTA Engage. If you would like to change your password, you can do this on the Settings page once you have logged in. Follow this guide if you are having difficulty locating any information. If there is a technical error, you have noticed anything concerning or any of the information about your child is incorrect, please report it by contacting the School Administration by telephone or by sending an email to [email protected]. If you are having any difficulties with your SEQTA Engage login account, please contact the ICT Helpdesk by emailing [email protected]. Please provide your full name and contact details in the email and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. As a web based portal, JSR SEQTA Engage is accessible anywhere where there is an Internet

connection. This is particularly useful for parents (and students) who may have been away and need to catch up on missed work. As always, it is the child’s responsibility to stay on top of their teaching and learning programmes, but knowing what’s coming up and being connected to the School when absent, is certainly a big help. We hope you enjoy using SEQTA Engage! For further information, please contact Kane McLachlan, Learning Technologies Coordinator, by ringing the

School or sending an email to [email protected].
