“Freedom of information is a fundamental human right and is the touchstone for all
freedoms.”
Continuing with Celebrating Human Rights …… - the theme for the month of
September is Freedom of Information. Well informed students will grow to become
responsible and aware citizens as the Right upholds the inherent dignity of all human beings
and promotes transparency and accountability. The students participated in the Model
United Nations Conference where they gained a lot of information on the procedure of UN
sessions.
The grand event “Scientifica” was a whole school endeavor wherein the students
understood about the depletion of the ozone layer and explored ways to combat the
problem.
As we get ready to welcome Lord Ganesha, the deity of wisdom, to our homes, I wish you all
a very happy Ganesh Chaturthi!

“Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents are the roots
that sprinkle stardust in the lives of our children.” Grandparents' Day was celebrated in
gratitude of the unconditional support, love and affection that they provide. Their care
increases with every passing day.

“A teacher consumes itself to light the way for others.” A teacher becomes a friend, philosopher and a guide to their beloved students and always thinks of the wellbeing of them. A day when our students express their love and gratitude towards their teachers, 'a teachers' day' was celebrated with fervor in Goldcrest High, Vashi. The students were excited and wanted to make the day super special for their beloved teachers. They presented a special assembly to mark the day.
The assembly began with the prayer, followed by a tribute paid to a great teacher and philosopher, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. A special AV was shown presenting the immense contribution of Dr. Radhakrishnan to the field of education. This was followed by a rocking dance by the little angels of Grade 3, they danced expressing their love for their teachers. A musical medley presented by students and teachers was enjoyed a lot by everyone.

“If necessity is the mother of inventions, scientifically developed production is the mother of scientific research” was very wisely said by Arthur Edwin Kennely. All the science geeks of Goldcrest high school, Vashi were all geared up for the grand event “Scientifica 2016” which was organized on 18th Sept. 16 with an endeavor to promote scientific attitude in budding young students. An event where they showed that science is fun. Science is curiosity. We all have natural curiosity. Science is a process of investigating. It's posing questions and coming up with a method. Students worked for almost 3 months with their science teachers to make the wonderful projects and models.

The theme for the Scientifica this year was “Protection of Ozone Layer”. Our students came up with lot of innovative ideas to reduce the depletion of Ozone layer after doing a lot of research. All the science teachers helped the students to get their ideas into real working models.
Our students definitely showed that science is way of thinking; it is a perspective, a process which takes us from confusion to understanding in a manner that is precise, predictive and reliable. Their hard work definitely paid off as the parents and teachers were full of praises and motivated the students for even greater work. The students were now inspired and decided to work even harder for the next year's Scientifica.

Fortis hospital always takes initiatives to make the people and the students aware of the health issues. On the occasion of World Heart Day the students of Goldcrest High Vashi learnt Basic Life Support and CRP Training by Dr. Rinku Mathews from Fortis Hospital. In our day to day life we find people suffering from high blood pressure which ultimately results into heart attack. Dr. Mathews spoke about how we can be a help to a person suffering from heart attack at least till he gets the medical assistance. She trained the students and the teachers about the steps one has to follow while giving a CPR.
She demonstrated the CPR on a dummy as to how the chest compression should be given and also asked some of the students to practice it on the dummy to check if the students have followed it well. The students who attended the training were then given the certificate so that they can give the CPR if they find anyone suffering from heart attack. It was indeed a very interactive workshop where the students as well as the teachers learnt about Basic Life Saving and they all took an oath to help the needy.
