Greetings everyone!
I’m sure it has been said before but I can’t say enough about how our sen-
ior center is all about the people. I feel so lucky to be here everyday to
enjoy talking and getting to know you all. Often there seems to be not
enough time in a day to socialize enough, but it is always such a pleasure.
Recently a song title came to mind “The people that you never get to
love.” It happens everyday, you come in contact with others and never
have the opportunity to share anything but maybe a smile. I suppose just
realizing that is a start but what if everyone strived to reach out more?
What a great thing that would be! It is an act of giving but is so self-
enriching. Because after all it is love of a sort we extend when we share.
And love endures-I know it does!
See You Soon, Donna
Stay away from negative people, They
have a problem for every solution.

success for the Senior Center.
We cleared $1,766. A huge thank you
to Fleet Farm for selling us popcorn at their
best price possible!
Article written by: Lynda Cran With Labor Day, the anniversary of 9-11, and the upcoming election, with all the politicians touting their ideas, we need to remember this is OUR country, the politicians work for us.
Woody Guthrie wrote a song in 1956 that says it all: “THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND” VERSES 1, 2, AND 4
THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND, THIS LAND IS MY LAND, FROM CALIFORNIA TO THE NEW YORK ISLAND; FROM THE REDWOOD FOREST TO THE GULF STREAM WATERS THIS LAND WAS MADE FOR YOU AND ME. AS I WAS WALKING THAT RIBBON OF HIGHWAY, I SAW ABOVE ME THAT ENDLESS SKYWAY: I SAW BELOW ME THAT GOLDEN VALLEY: THIS LAND WAS MADE FOR YOU AND ME. WHEN THE SUN CAME SHINING, AND I WAS STROLLING. AND THE WHEAT FIELDS WAVING AND THE DUST CLOUDS ROLLING, AS THE FOG WAS LIFTING A VOICE WAS CHANTING: THIS LAND WAS MADE FOR YOU AND ME.

By Nellie Renoux
My children are coming today. They mean well. But they
worry.
They think I should have a railing in the hall. A telephone in the
kitchen. They want someone to come in when I take a bath.
Help me to be grateful for their concern. And help them to
understand that I have to do what I can do as long as I can.
They’re right when they say there are risks. I might fall. I
might have the stove on. But there is no challenge, no possibil-
ity of triumph, no real aliveness without risk.
When they were young and climbed trees and rode bicycles and
went away to camp I was terrified. But I let them go, because
to hold them would have hurt them.
Now our roles are reversed, help them see. Keep me from be-
ing grim or stubborn about it. But don’t let them smother me.
