OR Meet Me in the Resource Room -

Teacher Ed Chat Room 1

I would be glad to talk to you. My phone

number is 719-379-3935 and I am usually

at my desk Monday - Friday between

nine o'clock and five o'clock Mountain

Time. Please be aware of time zone

differences when you call and that

Sunday is reserved for family time.

I will state right away that I am a lousy typist, and although I will try to avoid typing errors, I know when things get fast and furious my thumbs and fingers will mangle words. So plse excude mu tyoing errors

I also use voice activated software that does not always translate what I say efficiently. So if you get a paperback where I comment, “This is a goober flavor”, be assured I meant “This as a good paper.”

Project: Preparing For Your Final Project

You are now ready to start collecting the five lesson/activities or guidelines of planned activities that you will be using in your final project. Type, scan, or download a lesson/activity plan or activity that you have previously taught or used and are going to use in your final project. Create a folder on your hard drive and put the lesson/activity plan or activity into the folder. You may want to save several lessons/activities into the folder each week so that you can select the best five lessons/activities for the final project. Please check the final project scoring guide for criteria.

These will be the plans fro which you will select to review for your final project.

Units 4 and  5:  Writing Assignment - Curriculum Mapping This is a two week assignment that you will begin in Unit 4 and complete in Unit 5. Select a topic that you plan to implement over a two-week time span, during units 4 and 5. Using Udelhofen’s Curriculum Mapping Template (Fig. 3.1. page 30 in Keys To Curriculum Mapping )as a model, create a curriculum map using your knowledge of the following:

•selecting appropriate curriculum for the age and grade level of the learners •sequencing the order of presentation of the curriculum •organizing content and activities within the curriculum •establishing priorities for assessment

Write a 200 word essay that describes the value of your curriculum map. Answer the following questions in your essay:How can your curriculum map be used to teach your chosen lesson topic? What would you change if and when you use this topic again based on the mapping of the curriculum?

Refer to the Curriculum Map Samples (found in Doc Sharing) to help guide you through the process.

Unit 6: Writing Assignment - Rubric Writing

Select a project that you have implemented or create a project to be implemented in the future. Develop an assessment rubric (scoring guide) for the assignment that defines the project's measurable tasks and assigns a weight to each. As you complete the rubric, make sure that the expectations and the point values are indicative of the criteria that you intend the project to measure. You may use the scoring guides in this course or any of your other Kaplan courses as a model

Unit 6: Writing Assignment B - Reflective Decision Maker Journal The reflective decision maker draws upon knowledge of diverse learners, knowledge of academic content and pedagogy, knowledge of assessment, and knowledge of professional responsibilities and relationships when making professional decisions and when considering the effects of his or her actions and behaviors on learning. The reflective decision maker is able to articulate a solid rationale for his or her choices in terms of teaching practices and professional actions, based on the four key areas of professional knowledge.

Here are the points to be addressed in the Reflective Journal assignment that you will complete at the end of this course:Improvement in Practice:Mastery of Program Competencies:Impact on Learning.

Page 10: Seminar Unit 2

Unit 7: Writing Assignment - Final Project for Curriculum Design

You will select topics that you implemented in your own classroom or work setting during our units 1-5. In each of those units, you should save at least one activity plan in a folder on your computer titled Curriculum Review Project.

You will do a self-critique of your progress as a curriculum developer. This critical analysis should be based on your course readings, Internet assignments, and your current research into best practices. Your critique should include the following elements:

•Review your selected activity plans and identify the educational theory used in each plan. • Explain why you planned the activity the way you did. •Review your selected plans for best practices implementation.• Review your selected lesson/activity or activity plans against your state's, organization or company’s standards.

The artifact of your choice should show a direct relationship between practice and outcome. It should demonstrate your deep understanding of concepts/strategies and your improved knowledge, skills and behaviors. Be sure to visit your classmates’ blogs and post your comments/questions.

You will also post to your blog in Unit 9
