Self Evaluation:

We as a future ECE must have the understanding of our trade and also what it

needs to be an ideal ECE. We are directly interacting with the children, their

parents/guardians and a whole community where the daycare is located. We have

an important role here to play. We must follow the guidelines for the ECEs but at

the same time we must not fail to use our inner conscience and judgement. We

must remember that we are dealing with the most wonderful creation of the God

that is “Children”. We have the noble duties to teach them moral values, behavior

and respect through a way of love, respect and patience. We also need to develop a

very good relationship with the guardians and parents of the children which is one

of our mandatory duties. The relationship is important because it will help us to

integrate into the community and society fast.

What I felt as a challenge not because of the difficulty in managing the children but

rather difficulty in utilizing the strategies. I always spoke with the ECE teacher for

any issues I faced or how to do a thing in a better manner. My another difficulty

was an inherent language difficulty with English being English as a second

language. My problem with English is my accent and weakness in fluency. I hope

to overcome this gradually as I am trying hard.

This guidance subject and log assignment helped me enormously in order to

understand the physical development, psychology, cognitive and social

development. These are the most essential elements one must learn to do well as

an ECE in this field. This assignment was a great learning experience too as I had

the opportunity to learn various types of guidance strategies which I believe will

stand me in good stead as an ECE in the future.
