What do Students Say?

“Coming from a small town to

a big university, it’s nice to

have a small class where

everyone knows my name.

MathExcel definitely helped

my grades, but I left each

class with some good

memories”

Brandon Nelson, Belfry, Ky.Chemistry Major, Class of 2013

What do Students Say?“MathExcel is a great program that provided a friendly and supportive environment during my freshman year. The workshop helped me to obtain many new study skills and to understand in depth all of the material we learned in the calculus lectures. MathExcel was a big part of my success in the calculus sequence and gave me the opportunity to acquire many new friendships in college.”

Danielle Fontanez, Lexington, Ky.Mathematics Major

What do Students Say?“I recommend the Math Excel program to

incoming freshmen because Calculus is

about how to attack problems and

problem-solving.

The best way to solve problems is to have

many people working simultaneously on

the same problem, having different angles

on how to approach a problem. By

working in a group, as MathExcel offers,

you get that one-on-one and you also get

that group experience with other

students.”

Ese Ighodaro, Lexington, Ky.Biochemistry Major, Math Excel Assistant Workshop Leader

Two other programs of interest• FastTrack - a week before the start of the

semester to review mathematics in preparation for calculus. See www.as.uky.edu/fasttrack

• Some students who earn credit for Calculus I or II by an AP exam choose to take Calculus I or II, even though they have credit. Others, choose to begin in Calculus III. Calculus III Honors, MA 213 017 and 018 is an option for students who earn a strong AP score (4-5 on BC) and choose to begin in Calculus III. Contact your adviser after you receive AP scores.
