School to College Partnership (SCP) The School College Partnership provides pupils with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of exciting, college based, vocational courses, during the senior phase (S4-S6). Doing a college course whilst at school, will provide you with additional skills and experience which can boost your employment prospects and enhance your CV for college and university application. Some of the courses include work placements which will compliment your studies, offering more post school choices, which can set you on a pathway to a rewarding career. Some courses will help you to gain fast track entry into 2nd year at University or College. Please refer to course choice information, which detail the range of SCQF level qualifications available. Foundation Apprenticeships (FA) Are funded by Scottish Government and provide skills based training in industries, which are deemed to be a priority area, where there is a shortage of skilled applicants. These are 2 year programmes, offered in a range of vocational areas, delivered at various venues including Edinburgh College campuses and East Lothian schools. The NPA element of the course is classroom based, but the SVQ element of this qualification takes place in the workplace. Pupils will work closely and build relationships with leading employers from skills shortage industries. The programmes enable pupils in the senior phase to gain

valuable, ‘real-world’ work experience, access work-based learning and achieve an SCQF level 6 qualification, all whilst you are still at school. Gaining a Foundation Apprenticeship opens the door to paid employment, whilst completing Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships. Please note there is a requirement for work experience placements to be undertaken during some school holidays. East Lothian Works (ELW) Provision provided by East Lothian Works, East Lothian Council’s employability hub, is offered across a range of vocational areas for pupils from S2 upwards. Please refer to individual course information for further details. South East Scotland Academy Partnership (SESAP) Academies, delivered in partnership with Local Authorities, Edinburgh College and Queen Margaret University (QMU) are suitable for S5 – S6 pupils who are committed to a 1-2 year programme of study. Pupils will study at level SCQF 5/6, both at college and university, while still at school. You will also gain relevant work experience opportunities. Successful completion of an Academy provides pupils with direct access to QMU or Edinburgh College and enhances progression for those wishing to move directly into employment.
