How does it work?

Each SmartSub = $20 cash + $50 advertising credit

50 SmartSubs = $1000 cash + $2,500 advertising credit

School pupils encourage family, friends or neighbours to subscribe for a ‘SmartSubs’ subscription to The Dominion Post*.

1

They will receive a Dominion Post subscription at 50% off the normal retail cover price for 26 weeks.2When starting a subscription, they nominate a school.

The Dominion Post will give the school $20 cash and $50 newspaper advertising credit for every SmartSub received.

3

SmartSubs is a new fundraising opportunity for schools in partnership with local communities and The Dominion Post.

Newspapers in the home

The Dominion Post wants to encourage a healthy appetite for news amongst our up and coming readers and foster a greater awareness of developments and issues in the world around them. Regular exposure to The Dominion Post will not only achieve this but also support school based activities and projects. It will also put parents in a better position to answer their kids’ questions!

*Applies to new subscribers only.

Getting the cash!

Cash donations are paid out quarterly and will be based on the number of SmartSub signups during the last 3 month period. Schools can either have the cash paid directly to a bank account or a cheque can be posted.

Schools can spend their cash donation however they like. It’s their choice.

There are many benefits to being a subscriber; the paper is delivered to your property six days a week, there are subscriber only offers and competitions, and a quarterly subscriber newsletter which includes fantastic subscriber discount coupons.

Having a newspaper in the house is a great way to encourage your kids to have a hunger for current events and issues and to be better informed for class discussions and school projects.

Of course, they can also read our weekly kids’ Presto section, and keep up with their favourite sports stars.

What can you do?

SmartSubs can be an effective fundraiser, but it is all dependent on the extent to which you push it.

The Dominion Post will be promoting SmartSubs to raise awareness of it, but its real success lies at the individual school level.

SmartSubs should be regularly promoted in newsletters, websites and by word of mouth. By encouraging parents to take up or promote this great offer, the school and students will both benefit.

The Dominion Post can supply you with logos, support materials and information on SmartSubs. You can also direct people to the website for more information
