Lismore Public School Excellence, Opportunity and Success
Term 4, Week 4
2 November 2011
Lismore Public Students attend Creative Arts Camp
Four students and one of our teachers have been selected to attend the
Creative Arts Camp at Lennox Head. The camp commenced on Sunday 30
October and will conclude on Friday 4 November.
The selection process is a tough audition for students and staff. Mrs
Heather Cole was selected from a large number of teachers to attend this
camp. Student’s Rihanna, Jessica, Sarah and Kaitlyn have work incredibly
hard all year and persistence has also paid off for them as they were all
selected to attend the camp.
Attending this camp are vocal ensembles, drama students, visual arts
students and students who play musical instruments. All three of our
students qualified for the concert band section.
We congratulate Mrs Cole and the students on their selection and hope
they enjoy the camp.
Unfortunately Sarah was unable to attend the camp but we acknowledge
her commitment and success in music.
Intensive Swimming Scheme
The learn to swim scheme is now in it’s second week and the students are all
working hard to improve their swimming skills. This program is run by the
Department of Sport and Recreation.
We have qualified instructors in the water and on the pool deck. This is a great
program and I am sure all of the students attending will benefit greatly.
The 82 students we have attending have all shown an
amazing improvement during the course of the first week.
We are very fortunate, as a school, to have this resource
available to us.
We must commend the students for their outstanding
behaviour during transition to the pool and the respect they
show towards their instructors.

Trivia Night
It’s only two weeks away! Our trivia night will be held on Saturday 12 November.
We have had some amazing prizes donated. The P & C are working very hard in continuing to collect prizes. At this point
we have 14 tables booked. Two or three more tables would be most welcome.
Remember to bring your own nibbles and drinks and some loose change for the various activities and raffles.
This should be another great night, thank you for your support.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our local community for the generosity they have shown in the donation of
prizes.
Kindergarten Orientation
We are now into our third week of Kindergarten Orientation and the students have really enjoyed their first taste of big

The buddy students have shown great enthusiasm to ensure the transition into big school is as smooth as possible.
We would also like to remind you to return all your enrolment forms as we will be starting the process of making the 2012
classes.
