At Sarment, we believe protecting the health of the vineyard and

maintaining a balance between the different environmental factors

that constitute terroir is crucial. These days, different philosophies

pertaining to viticultural practices are common in modern day

winemaking with sustainable, organic and biodynamic farming

methods forming a crucial aspect of everyday life in todays wineries.

This being the case, Sarment only works with wineries that respect

this tradition; wineries that only farm sustainably, organically or

biodynamically ensuring a way of life for generations to come and

making sure the wines that end up on the top tables in the world are

    of the utmost quality.

    S U STA I N A B I L I T Y

Respect for the environment with constant attention and care paid

to all different aspects of the vineyard, including the controlling of

yields, as well as nurturing the vine without causing undue stress.

Synthetic chemicals are sparingly used as a last resort in order to keep

the vineyard in the healthiest condition and protect the crop against

    diseases.

    O R G A N I C

Organic vineyards must be certified by a government and/or a non

profit organization in order to standardise the different methods of

organic viticulture. No chemicals of any kind are permitted in the

vineyard in order to respect and adhere to current organic principles.

    B I O DY N A M I C

Biodynamic viticulture follows organic principles, augmented by

aspects of astrology. The approach was established by Rudolph

Steiner to further enhance the life of the vineyard and follows nine

strict principles. A mixture of leaves (compost), plants and other

components such as cow's horns are used to help the vineyard cope

with potential diseases. A biodynamic calendar is used to reflect the

four main components of the vine (flower, fruit, root and leaf) as well

as the use of astrological signs and the alignment of the different

planets. For a vineyard to be declared biodynamic, it must be certified

by the "Demeter" organization, which controls the different steps and

    stages of the viticultural process.

Sarments own label Terroirs range showcases the true

typicity of the worlds major grape varietals. The wines

included in the Terroirs range are the result of an exhaustive

search by our sommeliers for wines that embody the

genuine character of each varietal, coming from some of

the worlds premier winemakers who we shortlisted as

being passionate about creating great wines with their own

character and personality. Each Terroirs wine provides the

definitive introduction to one significant grape variety and

wine-producing region, clearly expressing the aromatic

characteristics and flavour of each grape variety and the

distinctive terroir from where it came. Only those wines

that display complex flavours, balanced structure and a

sense of place are considered for the Terroirs collection.

These wines are not only approachable but enjoyable and

outstanding value for money; they represent an excellent

opportunity to explore, understand and appreciate one part

Didier Dagueneau created a cult following for his Sauvignon

Blanc from the Pouilly Fum appellation in the Loire.

Tragically, Didiers life was cut short in 2008 at the young

age of just 52 after a light plane accident in the Cognac

region of France however his legacy continues through his

children who now run the iconic vineyards and winery with

son Benjamin overseeing the winemaking and daughter

Charlotte taking care of the running of the business.

Dagueneaus cult status comes from the fact that they

make such little wine. The fact that these are regarded as

arguably the best Sauvignon Blanc in the world helps, but

they do limit themselves to the plots they have (the largest

being just 3 hectares). Most known are the iconic Silex and

Pur Sang Cuvees whilst there is also a small production of

Juranon called Les Jardins de Babylon a delectable and

one of the most precise sweet wines of the south west of

    France.

The Cotat family has tended both Sauvignon Blanc and

Pinot Noir on the slopes of the Monts Damns in Chavignol

since the end of the Second World War. It was only in the

1990s when two brothers, Paul and Francis, handed over

the family Domaine to their sons, Franois and Pascal

respectively that the estate came into being as we know

it today. Today there are two Cotat Domainesone in

Chavignol, headed by Franois, and one in Sancerre, run

by Pascal. What sets these cousins apart is less important

than what they sharea passion for natural winemaking

and a truly amazing touch with Sauvignon Blanc.

Cotats wines truly benefit from age. While these wines

are irresistible when they are young, one of the unique

pleasures of putting down a few bottles is to later discover

a rich, custard-like wine that defies everything you would

expect from racy Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Quite

possibly the best Sauvignon Blanc one can put to their lips.

The Dugat family have been hand crafting quality wines in

the prestigious Gevrey-Chambertin appellation of Burgundy

since the beginning of the 17th century. Now into the 13th

generation, the father and son combination of Bernard and

Loic Dugat exploit their unique knowledge of winemaking

and working in the vineyards to make wines that are rich,

robust and full bodied whilst retaining both charm and

elegance; winemaking knowledge that has been both

passed down and acquired over generations. Farming

Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, mostly from old vines spread

out over just 10 hectares, the family make Grand Cru

Chambertin that is the envy of many winemaker alongside

Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne that cannot fail to excite the

palate of even the most seasoned of Chardonnay drinker.

Wines that can most certainly age and the patient wine

lover will really see the benefit of such patience after 6 to 8

    years in the cellar.

The genesis of Domaine Denis Mortet came in 1956

when Charles Mortet began selling grapes to the local

co-operative, but following the arrival of son Denis and

his wife Laurence in 1978, the Mortets began to focus on

bottling their wines independently. After succeeding his

father in 1993, Denis established Domaine Denis Mortet

with just 4.5 hectares of Grand and Premier Cru holdings in

    Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Vougeot. The

1990s were a time of expansion, culminating in 1999 with

the purchase of vines in Chambertin Grand Cru and Gevrey-

Chambertin Premier Cru Dere a year later. Third generation

Arnaud took the reins in 2005 with a commitment to

following in the footsteps of his forefathers, upholding a

legacy of working in harmony with nature and continuing to

make wine that express the flavours of life. Domaine Denis

Mortet produces some of the regions most sought-after

and elegant wines, hallmarked by inimitable fruitiness and

    refinement.

The Domaine was started at the beginning of the 20th

century by Armand Rousseau who, at the age of 18,

inherited several plots of vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin.

He came from a family of small landowners, composed

mainly of vine growers, coopers and local wine merchants.

Today, the winery is looked after by Armands grandson,

Eric, who continues in the family tradition of making

outstanding, iconic Burgundian wines from Pinot Noir.

The wines from Domaine Armand Rousseau have developed

over the years but have always kept the same spirit as

when Armand and his son Charles were making them. The

Rousseau hand is an easily recognisable style of wine.

They are typically Burgundian: fine, elegant and honesta

true expression of the vineyards through the Pinot Noir

grape and a little piece of the winemaker.

Highly praised by all wine critics including Robert Parker,

Neal Martin, Jancis Robinson, Alan Meadows and more,

these wines come with the highest acclaim and are

certainly the Burgundian star in any self-respecting cellar.

Robert Groffier is widely considered as one of the finest

winemakers in the Cte dOr region of Burgundy. Three

generations are currently involved at this important

Domaine. Today, it is managed by Robert Groffiers son

    Serge and his grandson Nicolas.

With just over 5 hectares of top-quality vineyards, including

Grands Crus Bonnes-Mares and Chambertin-Clos de Bze,

Groffier is truly dealing with great terroir and this paves

the way for creating some of the regions best wines. The

Groffiers own the biggest parcel in Chambolle-Musigny

1er Cru Les Amoureuses, but the Domaines flagship plot

is likely their parcel in the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les

Sentier. Located just a few meters below Bonnes-Mares

Grand Cru, Les Sentiers is often the Domaines most

    surprising wine in blind tastings.

The time and effort Serge Groffier gives to the vineyards

is paying back handsomely and correspondingly low yields

have produced wines of real pedigree and class. For

Groffier, like for many top winemakers, nothing should

be inflexible in the vinification process, it all depends on

the characteristics of the vintage but every year he works

with the same precision to craft the finest wines from this

    superb Domaine.

The Boillot family have been growing grapes in Burgundy

since 1885 and Henri represents the familys fifth

generation of winemakers. Located in the prestigious

village of Meursault, the business is a true family run

enterprise with Henris son, Guillaume having joined in

2006 to become the sixth generation.

Domaine Henri Boillot consists of 14 hectares evenly split

between white (mainly Premier Crus in Meursault and

Puligny, where he holds the four-hectare monopole of Clos

de la Mouchre) and red (several Premier Crus in Savigny,

Beaune, and Volnay). To uphold the integrity of the land they

farm, there are no pesticides or herbicides used as Henri

believes in maintaining the sustainability of his vineyards

    for future generations.

International praise has been awarded to the wines of

Domaine Henri Boillot, which have been described as pure,

    rich, structured and age worthy.

The Chavy family have resided in Puligny-Montrachet for

over 200 years but it was not until 1986 that Grard Chavy

began bottling the wines from their estate, which had

previously been sold to ngociants. Grards son, Jean-

Louis, took over the management of Domaine Jean-Louis

Chavy in 2004 and is well on the way to creating some of

    the regions most iconic wines.

Jean-Louis shares parcels of Bourgogne Blanc, Puligny-

Montrachet, and Charmes with his brother, Alain, as well

as Premier Cru vines in Champs Gain, Clavoillons and

Folatires. Jean-Louis also owns the Premier Cru site,

    Perrires on his own.

Jean-Louis takes a traditional approach in the vineyards

but has modernised the winery in recent times, improving

cellar management techniques in the process. The result

is rich and attractive wines with great fruit purity, mineral

notes, poise, finesse and fantastic aging potential.

Domaine Blain-Gagnard is an iconic producer of Chassagne

Montrachet and crafts some of the worlds most sought

after Montrachet from plots of Criots Batard Montrachet,

one of the finest Grand Cru of Burgundy. Formed through

the marriage in 1980 of Jean-Marc Blain and Claudine

Gagnard, the winery is today synonymous with Burgundian

tradition. Only tiny amounts of these wines are crafted

each vintage and winemaker Jean-Marc is the epitome of

careful winemaking prowess meaning that their limited

supply makes them a must for lovers of fine Burgundy. The

wines themselves are traditional in style and concentrated

in nature, a pure expression of the terroir and reflection

of precise winemaking. A minimal use of oak and frugal

battonage creates wines of pure elegance and finesse,

showing purity of fruit, well balanced acidity and long clean

flavours reflecting the wines superior origins.

The roots of Domaine de Marcoux can be traced back to

the 11th century before the appellation of Chteauneuf-

du-Pape had even been established. Whilst the family have

been in the village for centuries, winemaking only began

here in 1978 with Philippe Armenier, since his move to

Napa Valley, his sisters Catherine and Sophie have managed

the vineyards and winery. Quality and sustainable vineyard

practices are paramount and the winery has been farming

biodynamically for some time now, which has propelled

their wines to the top of the Chteauneuf-du-Pape

hierarchy. Cultivating 17 hectares of vines that average 60

years-old, just about half the vineyards are dedicated to the

production of Chteauneuf-du-Pape white wine whilst the

remaining portion is planted with Grenache, Mourvedre,

Syrah and Cinsault. The regular Chteauneuf-du-Pape is

one of the best examples in the appellation, while the

Cuve Vieilles Vignes is a powerful and concentrated wine

and is now one of the most sought after deluxe cuves in

    Chteauneuf.

The modern era of winemaking at Domaine Gauby started

in 1985 when Grard Gauby took over the ownership of

this quaint Cotes de Roussillon family estate as prior

to this date all wines were sold in bulk to cooperatives.

Today, Gauby farms on 85 hectares of land dominated

by natural forests, leaving 45 hectares for the farming of

vines. The Domaine is situated in the village of Calce, in

the Vin-de-Pays appellation of Coteaux des Fenouilldes.

As the name of the village suggests, the soils in this area

are predominantly chalky and are suitable for both red and

white wines. Gaubys vineyards are situated at between

150 meters and 200 meters above sea level giving them

a maritime influence that adds to the virility of the vines

and subsequently the fruit. Its this fruit that goes into his

flagship wine, the iconic Muntada Cuvee that is comprised

of his legendary Carignan grapes sourced from 120 year

old vines that gives wines the richness and firmness that

has made Gaubys wines one to watch for the serious wine

    aficionado.

Principally known for its famous Amarone della Valpolicella,

the winery Dal Forno Romano produces three wines, all

characteristic of the area in which the winery is situated,

distinguishing itself in its constant and total quest for

absolute quality. Romano Dal Forno was born in 1957 in

the village of Capovilla, which is situated a few kilometres

from Illasi; it is in this environment, where wine is not

just a product but more a philosophy of life, that the Dal

Forno family have nurtured their vineyards for almost four

generations. In the beginning they experienced many

difficulties but, thanks to the precious contributions of

his sons Marco, Luca and Michele, Romano Dal Forno, in

a relatively short space of time, has been able to see his

company rise to gain the highest level of respect within the

world of wine and produce wines that are requested the

world over by knowledgeable wine lovers. Their flagship

sweet wine, Vigna Ser without doubt represents the jewel

in the vinerys crown. Produced only in stellar vintages

only 6 have been made since its inception 30 years ago

Vigna Ser is one wine that true wine lovers should be

desperate to get their hands on.

The Roagna have been winemakers in the village of

Barbaresco since the mid 1800s. It was Giovanni and

his wife Maria who moved their house and winery to

its present location in the hamlet of Paglieri, which is

also home to the famous Paj vineyard. This plot is the

foundation of the estate, which in all covers 6.5 hectares

in Barbaresco. Alfredo and Luca, father and son, now take

care of the property and in 1990 they were able to purchase

two slices of renowned vineyard sites of Castiglione

Falletto in Barolo, la Pira and le Rocche. All of the vines

in Barbaresco and Barolo are worked organically, no

herbicides have ever been used here, grass grows between

the rows and only copper and sulphur solutions are used

for treatment. The Roagna family like to describe their

winemaking style as traditional and innovative.

Eva Fricke is undoubtedly one of Germanys most exciting

winemakers today. Her passion for wine was born during a

practical training on a vineyard in South Africa. Thereafter,

Eva studied viticulture and oenology in Geisenheim. During

her studies, she worked at several vineyards around the

globe including famed wineries such as Domino de Pingus

in Ribera del Duero and Schloss Johannisberg in the

Rheingau, honing and perfecting the skills that she has

applied with such vigour to her own winery since 2004. Her

tiny parcels, planted exclusively with Riesling vines up to

50 years-old or more, lie in the town of Lorch in the west of

the Rhinegau and are situated on steep slopes of the banks

of the river. Her Rieslings are intense and focused but with

a feminine charm to them. Others in the region should be

looking over their shoulder with caution at Eva Fricke and

    her winemaking abilities.

Located on the outskirts of the Swiss winemaking village

of Flsch, in one of the most strikingly idyllic settings

one can imagine for a winery, sits the Gantenbein estate.

The Grisons Rhine Valley village is home to winemakers

Martha and Daniel Gantenbein, who have been making

low-production Pinot Noir here since 1982. Knowing

the importance of selecting the right vines, they chose

Burgundy clones to plant in their vineyards and the results

have been outstanding. Working in harmony with the land

and using gravitational systems to get the grapes from vine

to crush, the Gantenbeins have created a full, structured

style of Pinot Noir unique to their winery with subtlety and

focus alongside complexity and elegance. Strictly limited

in production, this wine is sought-after the world over but

is extremely difficult to find a bottle of these days. Martha

and Daniel Gantenbein are today the best ambassadors for

the unrecognized wine country of Switzerland and more:

a winemaking couple which has pursued an unusual path,

    with courage and success.

Corofin is an artisan family wine company. Working with

local Marlborough producers with organic and biodynamic

principles, they create single vineyard wines that are a

transparent expression of the land and the season. From

the early days here, winemaker Mike Paterson and his wife

Anna have always had a desire to start their own small wine

business, established without compromise for quality and

with complete authenticity. Choosing to only work with

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the couple believe these are

the varietals that will amplify the transparent expression

they seek from the land. The image on the Corofin label

represents the Paterson family crest, symbolising the

connection between past and future generations. The

crest has been rendered in a classic engraved style for the

label and highlights the immense attention to detail that is

part of every facet of the business for this young aspiring

    winemaking family.

For over three decades, Harlan Estate has been committed

to creating a California First Growth since its inception

in 1984 by pioneering Californian winemaker H. William

Harlan. Harlans vision in the Napa Valley was to create

and establish one of the finest wine growing estates in

America, starting with virgin hill slopes and transforming

them into a world-class winery. Vineyards are planted

with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and

Petit Verdot although there are only approximately 2000

cases of his iconic wines made each vintage. In a quest

for sustained excellence, the vineyards are farmed

sustainably with a great amount of attention and time

spent on maintaining the quality of the land that is farmed.

Each year, the wines of Harlan Estate strive to faithfully

express the abiding character of the land and the distinctive

attributes of the vintage. Immensely fresh and classically

proportioned, the wine manifests an aromatic purity with

signature tones of forest floor. The impression is long and

seamless with supple, integrated tannins with a sublime

finish that consistently makes them one of the most sought

after wines not just in California but the world over.

Located in Americas iconic Napa Valley, Bond has been

committed to creating a portfolio of wines that are diverse

in their geographic representation and Grand Cru in

quality. Sourced from hill side estates, the Cabernet

Sauvignon based wines of Bond vividly demonstrate the

range of Napa Valleys finest terroir. For over 25 years

since its founding, the estate has strived to show the

expression of Napa Valley terroir through its wines which

are undoubtedly among the very best wines produced in

the United States and continue to be some of the most

sought after Napa Valley wines around the world. Rigorous

selection is employed at every stage of wine development

at Bond. Many components, though singularly attractive

and possessing lavish attributes, are not utilized in the

final blends for Bond providing the opportunity to create a

second wine; a blend, offered under the label Matriarch.

Champagne Henri Giraud was founded by Franois Hmart

at the beginning of the 17th century when the family

settled in the village of A in the Champagne region of

France. The vineyard was wiped out, as many were, during

the phylloxera outbreak and was re-planted with grafted

vines by Leon Giraud at the beginning of the 20th century.

At the helm today is the 12th generation of the Giraud-

Hmart family, Claude Giraud, who oversees the hand-

crafting of their top cuve, Ft de Chne Grand Cru dA,

alongside other world-class Champagne such as their

Argonne, which is only made in stellar vintages.

Chalky soils give the wine a unique sense of place and

a minerality that creates a vibrant, delicate style of

Champagne, whilst the winerys use of Argonne oak lends a

unique sophistication and character to each bottle of Henri

    Giraud Champagne.

Champagne Jacques Picard was founded in 1956 when

the then-mayor of Berru, Roger Picard, planted vines on

land that was newly granted the Champagne appellation

label. His son, Jacques Picard, first bottled their distinct

Champagnes in the mid-1960s and from there a legend was

    formed.

Berru is the historic cradle of Champagne Jacques Picard

and, located 7km north of the town of Reims, boasts some

of the most unique terroir in the region, which gives rise to

    Champagnes with body and fullness.

Now into the third generation, the house is the only

remaining Propritaire-Rcoltant in the area the only

family to remain as winemakers who grow their own grapes

    and make their own wines.

Jacques Picard Champagnes are a true reflection of their

terroir, boasting fruitiness and aromatic finesse. The estate

also produces top-quality vintage Champagnes crafted from

old vines that are ideal for exceptional moments, while the

house style is suited to almost every occasion.

The Mochel family has been making wine in the Bas-Rhin

village of Traenheim, 20 km west of Strasbourg, since 1669.

Here, Frdric and his son Guillaume sustainably farm

10 hectares (5ha of Grand Cru). The Domaine is planted

with Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris,

Gewrztraminer and Pinot Noir. The vines enjoy a southerly

exposure and the soil is a unique mix of clay, marl and

gypsum. This combination brings the perfect balance of

heat and water retention to the vines. The vines must be

at least seven years old and the maximum permitted yield

is 55 hl/ha for Grand Cru status - but Mochels yields are

considerably lower than this, creating unique hand-crafted

wines that are a true reflection of the perfect growing

conditions and soils of the area.

On the whole, Alsatian wines are made from just one grape

variety and Domaine Frdric Mochel hand-crafts excellent

single varietal wines that show passion and elegance they

are a mirror image of a family that has put an innumerate

amount of time and love into their world-class wines.

Tucked in the middle of the Sancerre region is Domaine

Vincent Delaporte, a family business that has passed from

father to son since the 17th century. The winery is located

in the charming village of Chavignol, which is also famous

for its artisanal goat cheese. Today, the Domaine flourishes

thanks to more than 3 decades of tireless work by Jean-

Yves Delaporte (Vincents son) together with his wife and

    son, Nathalie and Matthieu.

Every single wine produced here is made from grapes

grown on the 24-hectare estate, which is partially given

over to the noble and ancient variety of Sauvignon, and for

the rest of the plantings, the most delicate and elegant of

    red grapes Pinot Noir.

Their flagship wine, Cuve Monts Damns, is harvested

from a plot first planted by Benedictine monks in the 10th

century on one of the most reputed slopes in the Sancerre

Wines from Thierry Germains Domaine Roches Neuves are

superb, but not easy to obtain because there are so few

bottles of them made each year. A meticulous winemaker

and passionate craftsman, Germains attention to detail

is key to the success of this small Domaine harvesting

manually, selecting grapes at their ripest and farming

bio-dynamically. His Samur wines are some of the most

exciting in the region and his reds show a silkiness and

elegant texture whilst his whites are voluptuous and classy

with generous fruit and supple textures. Thierry himself is

not one to shy away from his experimental roots, making

new wines in a style that match both his character and

personality. Domaine Riches Neuves is arguably one of

the top producers in the Loire and with his wines in such

demand, they are sure to be snapped up by the most eager

    wine collectors.

Located in the heart of the beautiful hills, on the former

site of a 13th century Dominican monastery in Saint-

milion, Couvent des Jacobins is one of the gems of French

wine heritage. With land totalling nearly 11 hectares and

consisting of clay and limestone soils, the Joinaud-Borde

family make great Merlot to share from their plots. For the

Joinaud-Borde family, making wine requires knowledge of

wine etiquette; the finished product is not just a result of

technical and cropping measures. It is primarily an art of

living that seeks to perpetuate winemakers from father

to son and mother to daughter. Certainly one of the most

interesting up-and-coming wineries in Saint-milion and one

    to watch with intense interest.

Chteau Rouget is one of the up-and-coming stars of

Pomerol and is sure to please the most discerning of Merlot

lovers. Lauded by both Robert Parker and Neal Martin, this

winery stands out as one of the best producers on the

market at the moment. At the end of the 19th century, a

classification of Pomerol wines placed Rouget among the

top five estates of the appellation. This recognition stems

from the remarkable constancy showed by consecutive

owners of the estate, who all worked hard to produce

    iconic wines.

The Labruyre family, who has owned Rouget since 1992,

follows the same target and for more than 20 years, they

have tried hard to place Rouget among Right Bank leaders.

Critics and amateur drinkers alike now regard the estate

as the winery that has made the most consistent progress

across the appellation, vintage after vintage.

The property has been in the hands of the Bordet family

since 1590 and is now maintained by 13th generation family

member Jean-Franois Bordet. Jean-Franois pays particular

attention to obtaining the best fruit possible through careful

pruning, de-budding and harvesting. Often harvesting

later than his neighbours in Chablis, Jean-Franois looks

to achieve greater ripeness and, with his extended lees

contact for the fermentation, he makes wines with great

structure and a sense of lusciousness to them.

Chablis Premier and Grand Cru vineyards create wines

with real poise and elegance, wines that lend well to both

drinking now and aging for some time. A true craftsman,

Jean-Franois is continuing a legacy of perfection that

has been laid down for centuries before him and he still

maintains the core family values within his winemaking to

    this day.

Domaine Geantet-Pansiot was founded in 1954 when

Edmond Geantet married Bernadette Pansiot. Settling in

the village of Gevrey, they started to work on and expand

their 3 hectares holding, which stretches over the Gevrey-

    Chambertin and Bourgogne designations.

In 1977, Edmonds son, Vincent, joined the family business

and brought a more modern, technical view to winemaking

than his father, who still farmed in a traditional fashion.

Creating the best Pinot Noir is the winerys mantra and the

wines have been lauded by Burgundy lovers around the

    world.

Now in its 3rd generation with the addition of Vincents son,

Fabien, the winery continues to produce world-class Pinot

Noir. Technical evolution required new changes and thus, a

need to expand. The family now cultivate over 13 hectares

    in Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambole-Musigny.

Domaine Jean Tardy & Fils is universally recognised as

one of the leading producers in the Cte dOr region of

Burgundy. Guillaume Tardy has since taken over the reins

from his father at this Vosne-Romane estate although not

one to do nothing, Jean still plays a part in the running of

the Domaine and the winemaking practices. Guillaume is

very much a traditional winemaker, using only a minimum

percentage of new oak in his village wines from Gevrey-

    Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romane and

Nuits-St-Georges. The family goal is to produce wines with

the purest fruit, combining the finesse and elegance of

the Pinot Noir grape with the respect for the local terroir.

The Domaines wines offer a certain charm as Guillaume

seeks to find perfection, striving for the aromatic qualities

he so covets. Guillaume also crafts a brilliant Echezeaux

Grand Cru, made from 75 year-old vines a wine that has

propelled this young winemaker in both stature and respect

from other winemakers and Pinot Noir drinkers alike.

Domaine de lArlot was founded in 1987 by insurance group

AXA and Jean-Pierre de Smet. Together they ran the winery,

which is located just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges on the

site of the former Domaine Jules Belin in Premeaux, until

    Jean-Pierres retirement in 2006.

A viticultural heritage continues to surround Domaine de

lArlot, which has been farmed biodynamically since 2003

and whose plots include those in Romane-St-Vivant and

Vosne-Romane Les Suchots. The original property consists

of two monopoles; Clos de lArlot, situated next to the

winery, and Clos des Forts St. Georges. Their 14 hectares

of vineyards crop primarily Pinot Noir although there is

some Chardonnay and Pinot Gris which they use to craft

    their white wines.

Technical director and oenologist Graldine Godot is

committed to maintaining the Domaines classic, elegant

wine style and her experience in both Burgundy and Chile

will add a new dimension to the estate practices that have

come to define the wines of Domaine de lArlot.

Domaine Henri Gouges epitomises all that is excellent from

Nuits Saint Georges and is, arguably, the best producer

in the region. Since 1919, generations have toiled to

craft some of the worlds finest wines and these days

the responsibility for managing the estate is down to

cousins Pierre and Christian Gouges grandsons of Henri

Gouges and their soon-to-be successor, Gregory. Of their

15 hectares they operate six holdings within Nuits Saint

Georges Premier Cru and produce only a small number of

hand crafted, distinguished wines that have been seen as

aspirational to lovers of fine Burgundy for decades. Highly

sought after wines include the Nuits Premier Cru Les

Chaignots and Clos des Porrets Saint-Georges. Domaine

Henri Gouges is a must for any discerning Burgundy lover

and no cellar is complete without a good quantity of these

    amazing wines.

The history of Domaine Simon Bize & Fils begins in 1880 in

Savigny-ls-Beaune. Now into its fourth generation, owner

and winemaker Patrick Bize took over from his father and

accomplished all that the family had set out to do. Prior to

his sudden passing in 2013, Patrick expanded the cellars,

invested in new vinification facilities and purchased new

parcels of land, allowing them to expand and extend their

    range of wines.

The winery is one of Burgundys most respected addresses

and a classic Domaine that creates absolutely world-class

wines. The wines are energetic with finesse and complexity

that predisposes them to long aging with careful cellar

    management.

Classic style Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is produced from

the Domaines 22 hectares, which includes Premier Cru

plots in Savigny-ls-Beaune and Grand Cru vineyard sites in

    both Corton-Charlemagne and Latricires-Chambertin. The

vineyards are harvested with a view towards good acidity

and sufficient ripeness to find the perfect balance that goes

into every bottle of Domaine Simon Bize & Fils.
