VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE RESOURCES SALVAGE PERMIT CONDITIONS

1. Permits are issued to permittees with the understanding that if the principal permittee leaves the project the

permit will be null and void and anyone desiring to continue the activities must apply for a new permit.

2. This permit, or a copy, must be carried by the permittee(s) during salvage activities.

3. The permittee is required to submit to the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (VDWR) a report of all specimens salvaged by the report due date. A simple Excel Worksheet may be used and should include as much information regarding the salvaged specimen as possible. Failure to return this report will result in non-issuance of future permits. If no activity occurs under this permit, an email should be sent to [email protected] containing the following statement: No activity occurred under Permit #insert permit ID during insert year (i.e. 2020). Permit reports are due annually by January 31.

4. Permittees shall give any and all changes of name, address, and/or phone number to the VDWR Permits

Section within no more than seven (7) days of those changes. All permittees (to include sub-permittees) shall provide DGIF with a complete home address, contact telephone number (home or cellular), and a valid e-mail address.

5. No species currently listed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or VDWR as threatened or endangered (T&E) may be taken under this permit. A Threatened and Endangered Species permit is required to salvage any Federal or State Threatened or Endangered Species. A Federal migratory bird salvage permit (issued by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service) is needed for salvage involving migratory birds, nests, or parts thereof.

6. This permit does not support any activities outside of those associated with the application and proposal submitted to and approved by VDWR.

7. No game species may be salvaged, unless explicitly authorized by this permit. This permit DOES NOT serve as a hunting or fishing license.

8. No live collection may be made under this permit.

9. The permittee is responsible for reporting any incidents of unusual deaths or diseases in fish and wildlife observed during the course of salvage activities.

10. This permit satisfies only VDWR’s requirement for salvage permits and is issued with the understanding that no collections will be made on Federal, state, or private property without the prior approval and necessary permits from the landowners involved. The permittee is responsible for obtaining any additional permits required for collection.

11. For safety reasons, it is recommended that all permittees display at least 100 square inches of solid blaze

orange material at shoulder level within body reach and visible from 360 degrees, especially during hunting season.
