GLORY TO GOD (Sung)
Refrain: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. 1. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. 2. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. 3. DIVINE MERCY NOVENA—THIRD DAY
For All Devout and Faithful Souls
Most Merciful Jesus, from the treasury of Your
mercy, You impart Your graces in great abundance
to each and all. Receive us into the abode of Your
Most Compassionate Heart and never let us
escape from it. We beg this grace of You by that
most wondrous love for the heavenly Father with
which Your Heart burns so fiercely.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon faithful
souls, as upon the inheritance of Your Son. For the
sake of His sorrowful Passion, grant them Your
blessing and surround them with Your constant
protection. Thus may they never fail in love or lose
the treasure of the holy faith, but rather, with all the
hosts of Angels and Saints, may they glorify Your
boundless mercy for endless ages. Amen.

Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord —Year B—April 4, 2021
Today is the great feast that makes everything in our faith suddenly come together. St. Paul wrote to his converts: “If Christ is not risen from the dead, then is our faith in vain.” And this is true because without Easter it will be hard to understand Good Friday.
Good Friday is a story of the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus, a story of the triumph of falsity over truth, of injustice over justice, of evil over goodness. Jesus was falsely charged of crimes he did not commit, and unjustly sentenced to a death he did not deserve. His good friend betrayed him and his trusted companions deserted him. The people he loved demanded his crucifixion and chose to have the bandit Barabbas released in his place. It is a story of betrayal and lies, dishonesty and meanness, unfaithfulness and wicked violence directed against an innocent and apparently helpless victim. All this comes to a head on Good Friday when we see Jesus scourged, mocked, led on the death march, nailed to the cross where he died after a few hours and hastily buried in a tomb. If that were the end of the story that would be a bad story, a tragedy. But glory be to God it is not.
Death is not the end of the story. There is one more chapter. And this is the most important chapter because Jesus rose from the dead in all His glory and majesty. He is vindicated. His enemies are shamed and confused. Jesus regains his eternal glory with the Father. He is the Lord who prevailed over all humankind, his enemies included.
This is what the Easter experience calls us to do: To rejoice and be glad because Jesus whom we follow won the victory over suffering and death. And we can share in His resurrection if we persevere with faithfulness to the end. We may experience suffering, challenges, difficulties and even death along the way but if our faith is strong, nothing can defeat us and separate us from the love of God. This is what I said in my letter to you last week, our dealing with COVID-19 pandemic may not be over yet, as people of faith we never lose our hope that someday it will be better again. We are an Easter people who continue to believe in the goodness of God.
Today I share with you the joy of having our elect and candidate received their Sacraments of Initiation after they completed their RCIA journey. We welcome Adam Botsford who received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist for the first time at our Easter Vigil and Zachariah Hollingshad for receiving the Sacraments of Confirmation and Communion. Congratulations!
I am happy also to share with you that we already met our diocesan goal for our DLA. Now we can focus on achieving our parish goal in order to accomplish our projects this year. Thank you for your support and generosity.
Happy Easter!
Father Ron

Alleluia! Christ is risen! About today’s
feast, St. Augustine writes: “And he
departed from our sight that we might
return to our hearts and find him there.
For he left us, and behold, he is here.”
Christ’s resurrected presence lives not
only in the highest heaven but in the
fragile human heart. Christ’s life inspires
us and moves us to see a future for every
human being and discover our true
purpose and meaning. Every human
being has a desire to live, and this cry
can be heard within. There is a longing
for a connection with Someone greater
than ourselves that gives an import to our
existence that we cannot supply. Today,
our deepest questions find answers.
Please remember in your
prayers the soul of
Nicholas Yanni, a former
member of Sacred Heart
Parish, who passed away
recently. May God grant
him eternal rest and
peace.

REFLECTFIRST READINGWe hear today part of the speech that Peter delivered in the household of Cornelius, a centurion and Gentile-believer in Christ. Peter bore witness to his experiences with Jesus, including Jesus’ resurrection. To whom do you bear witness to your faith in the resurrected Jesus?
SECOND READINGPaul urges the Colossians to remain focused on Jesus’ resurrection, ascension, and final return — to “seek what is above.” What do you find appealing in this spiritual exercise?
GOSPEL READINGMark’s account of Jesus’ resurrection focuses on the women’s discovery of the empty tomb. In fact, Jesus risen from the tomb is the original ending of the Gospel of Mark. Why do you think Mark would end his Gospel with the empty tomb?
