The ministers of the church are lay persons, bishops, priests, and deacons. Book of Common Prayer, Catechism, p.855 Our congregation has opportunities for ministry in several areas of our common life together. These areas include Lay Eucharistic Ministers, Lay Eucharistic Visitors and Lectors. Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM) "Administering the elements at any celebration of Holy Eucharist in the absence of sufficient priests or deacons assisting the celebrant." Lay Eucharistic Visitor "Directly following a celebration of Holy Eucharist on Sunday, taking the Sacrament consecrated at the celebration to members of the Congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity were unable to be present at the Celebration." This ministry is usually done in pairs. The above two ministries require that the person so named to this ministry be a confirmed adult communicant in good standing and be licensed by the bishop for a period not to exceed three years. Lectors "A lector is a person trained in reading of the Word and appointed without license by the member of the Clergy in charge of the Congregation to read lessons and to lead the Prayers of the People." If you feel called to one of these ministries or have questions about them please get in touch with the vicar as soon as possible. Training for each of these ministries will be held shortly. ART GALLERY NEWS

St. Mary Magdalene has hosted the Gallery at Seven Lakes for about 17 years. In the beginning, a group of 20 to 25 artists gathered in the North Club House on Monday afternoons to help and encourage each other in their artistic endeavors. (The original group actually began 28 years ago.) St. Mary Magdalene invited the group to display and sell their work, providing a reliable venue. Currently, the group has dwindled to 4 – 6 artists, and we are finding it a challenge to produce new works for the gallery. Going forward, the artists will perhaps have an occasional sale, when it is convenient for the church. The walls of the gallery will continue to be adorned with the beautiful art works of our own Andrea Schmidt. These will be for sale if anyone needs a very special gift for themselves or for another. The artists extend their gratitude to St. Mary Magdalene for supporting this ministry for all these years, and I personally thank you for supporting this ministry. The Rev. Carol Burgess

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Suzanne For the past five years Suzanne Clarke has been regularly arranging the flowers for our altar. She is now taking a much deserved break from this ministry. We thank you, Suzanne, for all your hard work. The beautiful arrangements have been truly appreciated by the congregation, week after week. Thank you.

Thoughts from Tim Burgess’ sermon on the day of Koa’s baptism.

Baptism is the initial step of a faithful heart. Max Lucado God’s people should be baptized because God commanded it, not because some Church requires it. John R Rice There are two sides to this Baptism. The first is, you possess the Spirit: The second is that the Spirit possesses you. Smith Wigglesworth

AWKWARD MOMENTS: There’s an awkward moment when you aren’t sure if you have free time, or you’re just forgetting to do something. Awkward,…when you keep pressing the remote buttons harder and harder even though you know the batteries are dead. Awkward….when you have to take your paycheck to the bank because it’s too little to go there by itself. Karen Friday Randall
