“Come Walk Together The Way of Christ”
Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion March 28, 2010
The Lord GOD is my help, therefore I am not disgraced.
-- Isaiah 50:7a

Jesus, Remember Me Our Lenten journey of conversion has brought us to the holiest week of the Church year. With palm branches in hand we enter the holy city of Jerusalem, proclaiming, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” From this grand entrance into the city, we follow the Lord Jesus as he shares his last meal with his disciples, institutes the Eucharist, is arrested, betrayed, and killed. Each year this celebration of Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion plunges us into the saving mystery of Christ’s death and resurrection. The Lord’s forgiveness of the repentant thief reminds us that reconciliation awaits those who put their faith in Christ. Let the repentant thief’s words become our own this day: “Jesus, remem-ber me when you come into your kingdom” (Luke 23:42).

Holy Week And the Paschal Triduum Sunday, March 28 - Sunday, April 4, 2010
“The days of Jesus’ life-giving death and glorious resurrection are approaching, the hour he triumphed over Satan’s pride, the time we celebrate the great event of our redemption” (Preface of the Lord’s Passion II, Sacramentary). Thus the Church be-gins the one week of the year that we formally designate as “Holy.” Simple rituals can link the domestic church to parish church and Church universal. Enthrone Sun-day’s palms where you pray, behind the family crucifix, even as part of front door decorations: “Christ reigns here,” they proclaim; “all are welcome!” During the first three days of Holy Week, ready Easter clothes, prepare festal foods, clean the house, beautify the yard. Late Holy Thursday afternoon, share Lent’s final meal before the Lord’s Supper Mass. Pitcher, bowl, and towel make a fitting centerpiece; perhaps conclude the meal by washing each other’s feet. On Good Friday, observe the paschal fast from food—from TV and computer, too! Then come to Holy Sat-urday’s Vigil with mind clear, stomach empty, and heart full of “holy anticipation” that bursts into living flame when the new fire is kindled.

The members of the St. Juliana Mothers’ Club have supported the school for almost 25 years through the generous donation of their time and talent. They have volunteered in the school to assist in classrooms and also at receptions fol-lowing the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and Confirmation. Their efforts have funded many special programs which have enhanced the educa-tional experience for all St. Juliana students. “One hallmark of suc-cessful schools is the active involvement of parents,” remarked Principal, Kathleen Barton, “and at St. Juliana we are blessed with supportive and generous parents.”

News from St. Juliana Boy Scout Troop 965 Troop 965 just returned from a very WET weekend at Camp Crown in southern Wisconsin. In spite of the rain, fog, and cool temperatures the 20 Scouts and four leaders had a fun time. Many of the Scouts prepared their own foil lunches and cooked
them over a bed of hot coals. We explored the trails and sand dunes of the camp throughout the day on Saturday. Our next camping trip is a three-night outing to Owasippe Scout Reservation in Michigan. That trip will include a backpacking trek to a remote lake where we will spend one night under the stars. We will also be build-ing model rockets to launch while we are at Owasippe.
Last Monday night the Troop welcomed 8 new members from Cub Pack 3965. These new Scouts bring our youth membership to over 40 Scouts. Troop 965 meets at St. Juliana every Monday night at 7:00 in the Gym or School Hall. If you would like more information about
joining us please call Scoutmaster John Pelrine at (773) 594-9555 or visit our Troop website at www.troop965.us. New Scouts (Boys 10 1/2 years old and up) are always welcome.
