Communal Anointing of the Sick The Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated this Saturday, August 4th, after the 8:30 AM Mass. To receive the sacrament, you must register by July 31st; walk-ins will not be accepted. To register, please call the Welcome Center to leave your name and contact information; you will receive a call to verify your eligibility for the sacrament.

Looking ahead – Instructional Masses Have you wondered why the Mass is structured in the way we celebrate it today? Or why the celebrant wears those particular items of clothing? Or how the readings from the Bible are chosen? Or why some parts of the Mass are the same every week and others change? One Sunday each month we will highlight one piece of the Mass. The celebrant will take a few moments to explain the “who, what and why” of a particular action. This will take place at all the Masses. There will also be a handout inserted in the bulletin which will have material for children and adults. The first Instructional Mass will take place the weekend of August 25/26.

Introduction of the Roman Missal in Spanish for the USA

For the first time, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has promulgated a translation of the Roman Missal (which is in Latin) into Spanish for use in this country. While this will not cause a great change for participants, it will bring about a change in the prayers the celebrant says.

Formation opportunities for current liturgical Ministers

Each month, there will be a gathering of all those involved in liturgical ministry for growth and spiritual development. The first gathering will be Saturday, August 4th, 9 AM-12noon. Lectors, EMHC, musicians, sound board operators, ushers are all invited.

Training of new Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)

Extra Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) are those who assist with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at daily and weekend Masses. On Saturday, October 6th, there will be an all-day training program for those interested in serving. Please contact Joyce Lubofsky for further information about this ministry.

Ministry and Continuing Education for Adults Because Our Faith is too Rich to have ever Learned it All…

Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected] for more information.

Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living

“The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the

faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a

diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have

learned along the way.

New Sessions for Inquirers Inquiry sessions for anyone interested in learning more about being Catholic are taking place now, and it’s not too late to join in. Whether you intend to convert or not, you are welcome to participate. Sessions take place on Sunday mornings immediately following the 9 AM Mass. Contact Heidi Clark for more information at 281.333.3891, ext. 328 or [email protected].

Sign up to join a Dinner Club Enjoying a delicious meal and getting to know fellow parishioner is a perfect way to spend an evening, and you can do it when you sign up to participate in St. Paul’s Dinner Club. The clubs are open to all adult parishioners–single, married, divorced, or widowed. Sign-ups started on July 1- and will end August 11. A kick-off potluck for all participants is scheduled for Saturday, August 25. Contact Heidi at 281.333.3891, ext. 328. Fliers with more information are at the Welcome Center.

“By public displays of Catholicity such as corporate Communion and recitation of the rosary, the Knights uphold God, the Church and their fellow parishioners.”
