Proyecto de vidriera El pasado sábado 3 de octubre, vigilia de la Fiesta de San Fran-cisco, los líderes y representantes de nuestra comunidad par-roquial se reunieron para la dedicación de las imágenes de los santos en las vidrieras. Además, estuvo presente el alcalde Rico Medina. Aunque fue un rito breve y sencillo, la presencia del arzobispo Salvatore Cordileone lo hizo realmente especial. Se tomó un tiempo antes de cada una de las 12 imágenes sagradas in-censándose y rociando agua bendita, comenzando con la imagen de San Bruno en la iglesia principal y terminando con la imagen de San Miguel en la capilla. La siguiente es una reseña de Pamela Rojas sobre el proyecto. *** Este proyecto comenzó con una propuesta para múltiples cambios en la estructura del entorno de la Iglesia de San Bru-no en julio de 2008. Se envió una solicitud que incluía la in-stalación de vidrieras a la Oficina de Adoración de la Ar-quidiócesis de San Francisco. Stained Glass Window Project

Last Saturday, October 3, the vigil of the Feast of St. Francis, leaders and representatives of our parish community came to-gether for the dedication of the images of the saints in the stained glass. Also, in attendance was Mayor Rico Medina. Though it was a short and simple rite, the presence of Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone made it truly spe-cial. He took time before each of the 12 holy images incensing and sprinkling holy water, starting with the image of St. Bruno in the main church and ending with the image of St. Michael in the chapel. The following is a write up of Pamela Rojas on the project.

*** This project began with a proposal for multiple chang-es in the structure of the Saint Bruno Church environ-

ment in July of 2008. An application including in-stalling stained glass windows was sent to the Office of Worship of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. In October of 2010 replacement of the ordinary glass

windows with stained glass was proposed for the next festival. In January 2014 the whole project was con-

ceptualized at an estimate of $56,000 with completion in six months. In February of 2014 the project was

presented to the Parish Council with the proposal of eight panels initially at the courtyard side of the

church and was expanded to twelve with the inclusion of the four windows within the adoration chapel. The

original completion date was to be October 4, 2014. The selection of saints with inscriptions and emblems

was begun. On December27, 2018 the bulletin article “Looking Forward” included the stained glass windows and so-lar panels projects, hopefully to be completed by the festival in October 2019. In March 2019 the saints, based on the importance of the saints to the Catholic Church and the relationship of many to our ethnic communities were finalized. In August 2019 a liturgi-cal seminar included the presentation of the stained glass window project with a chart of the saints. In September 2019 the Finance Council approved the cost, letters were sent to parishioners, and Bovard Stu-dio was engaged for the window design and imple-mentation. The physical installation began August 10th and was completed August 25th, 2020. The total cost was $181,005 which included repair of a hole and imple-mentation of future damage prevention measures for the original Nativity stained glass window in the church. All of the saints in the church proper and the adoration chapel are facing the altar in their respec-tive environments.

Starting in November, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the church on Fridays from 6PM to 7PM. This gives more opportunities to do Eucharistic adoration since as many as 100 people can be in the church at the same time (just like the mass), whereas in the chapel, it is limited to two persons. The ethnic communities will lead the adoration, namely:

First Friday: English-speaking community Second Friday: Latino Community Third Friday: Tongan Community Fourth Friday: Fijian Community.

Catechism Corner by Kacey Carey , DRE Everyone has heard of today's gospel boiling down the commandments into two distinct commands: love the Lord and your neighbor as yourself. But what about the other eight commandments? When one loves the Lord with all ones heart, mind and soul , there is little need for further commands. Also, when one loves one's neighbor as oneself, one thinks of others as equal to them-selves. Basically the first three commandments are all about our relationship with God in how we love, honor and worship Him . If He is put in first place , then we do not need to take His name in vain . We do not need to remember to keep the Lord's day holy, because we would not think of dishonoring Him. Sundays should be special, not ordinary errand/shopping days or making others work on that day. Those mundane tasks can be done on other less worthy days. Sundays are for attending mass, planning ahead, getting all the "work" out of the way and enjoying the day with family and friends. The second great command is about our relationship with our fellow man. It brings all the remaining commandments into one concept: loving our neighbor as ourselves. This means we "honor" our parents as God's representatives on earth. It means we do not wish to harm or kill our neighbor through intentional gossip, fighting or violence. It means we can not support abortion , the intentional killing of an innocent human being. The sixth commandment " Thou shall not commit adultery"or fornication means we restrain our base instincts seeing each person as a child of God, not something to be abused or used for our own pleasure. We do not steal from others, defraud our employers by wasting time at work or cheat on taxes. Bearing false witness means we do not lie to others, commit perjury or present ourselves as something we are not. "Coveting our neighbor's wife" means lusting after someone to whom we are not married or being unfaithful to our vows. Lastly, we do not desire others material or spiritual goods. This kind of jealousy only brings resentment. "Human weakness cannot upset the plans of divine omnipotence. A divine master-builder can work even with falling stones." Michael Cardinal Von Faulhaber

Todo el mundo ha oído que el evangelio de hoy resume los mandamientos en dos mandatos distintos: ama al Se-ñor y a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. Pero, ¿qué pasa con los otros ocho mandamientos? Cuando uno ama al Señor con todo su corazón, mente y alma, hay poca necesidad de recibir más mandamientos. Además, cuando uno ama al prójimo como a sí mismo, piensa en los demás como iguales a ellos mismos. Básicamente, los primeros tres mandamientos tienen que ver con nuestra relación con Dios en cómo lo amamos, honramos y adoramos. Si se le pone en primer lugar, no es necesario que tomemos su nombre en vano. No necesitamos recordar santificar el día del Señor, porque no pensaríamos en deshonrarlo. Los domingos deben ser especiales, no días ordinarios de recados / compras o hacer que otros trabajen ese día. Esas tareas mundanas se pueden realizar en otros días menos dignos. Los domingos son para asistir a misa, pla-nificar con anticipación, sacar todo el "trabajo" del camino y disfrutar del día con familiares y amigos. El segundo gran mandamiento es sobre nuestra relación con nuestro prójimo. Reúne todos los mandamientos res-tantes en un concepto: amar a nuestro prójimo como a nosotros mismos. Esto significa que "honramos" a nues-tros padres como representantes de Dios en la tierra. Sig-nifica que no deseamos dañar o matar a nuestro vecino mediante chismes, peleas o violencia intencionales. Signi-fica que no podemos apoyar el aborto, el asesinato inten-cional de un ser humano inocente. El sexto mandamiento "No cometerás adulterio" o fornicación significa que repri-mimos nuestros instintos básicos al ver a cada persona como un hijo de Dios, no como algo para ser abusado o usado para nuestro propio placer. No robamos a los de-más, no defraudamos a nuestros empleadores perdiendo el tiempo en el trabajo ni hacemos trampas con los im-puestos. Dar falso testimonio significa que no mentimos a los demás, no cometemos perjurio ni nos presentamos como algo que no somos.
