There waa rather an unsettled Stock market at the 8ecoud Board to-day, without marked f eature, excepting dullness. Canton and Farmers' Loan waa firm, but generally in the Fancies there were more sellers than buyers, and quotations were weaker. Morris was lower, and pressed on the market, telling at 23, a decline of j f cent. Erie was also easier, but with little Stock offering. A few Ohio and Pennsylvania Bonds were sold at 91, but 96 is asked. For Southern Michigan Road par was offered. Reading was not very firm. For Government and State Stocks the movement is to fair extent, and prices are firm. Sales 150,000 D 8. 5a for banking purposes. At the Second Board there was a much better feeling generally, and quotations for all descriptions advanced.. There was an advance of 2 f cent in Canton, selling at 71, with an active demand. A Bear ¦ale of 100 shares was made at M|, seller twelve months. This Stock sold yesterday at Boston at 74. Norwich was also in good demand, 700 shares having been sold, closing at 66£, an improvement et" I 4P cent. The tales of Erie were 800 shares, and prices were well sustained. The fall in this Stock ol the last few days has brought in a new Set of buyers. Eight miles of the Dunkirk end of the Road were opened for travel ott the 8th inst. Reading was 71 {, a slight advance on the morning price. Operators do not seem to be much alarm ed by the action of the Pennsylvania Legislature. Harlem remains without much change, but was heavy. It fluctuates between 70J371L Farm* ers, although firm at the First Hoard, was weak at the 8econd, telling at 66, teller sixty. Long Island was firmer, going to 19 again. Tho rumor is that the debt is arranged, and that the Road will sot be sold. Mohawk sold at t%% which is about yesterday's price. For Rochester and Syracuse 1*3 was bid without sales. A sale of East Bos¬ ton was made at 27, the first operations in this Stock for a long time. Stonington was rather weaker. In Exchange! the market it quiet, and the ratet are without change, with fair supply. Sterling is 10910} i Francs are 5.10. The buaineaa in Freights is dull and quiet, but rates are unchanged. Engagements of Wheat were made to Liverpool at 3d ; 200 bales Cotton, 3a 6d; 2,000 bbls Turpentine, la 6d, and somo Dead Weight at Ml ; aud 300 tuns Wood a*Hf) Ids. To London, 1,000 boxes Cheese were taken it 30s, and other heavy goods at 25s. To Havre, the Cotton rate is a. The Havre packet takes about #250,000 in spe. cie, nearly all silver. The Banka and public institutions continue to be very much annoyed for want of change. Tho Mint ia much abused for not coining gold dollars- In connection with this subject, we annex a let. ter received from the Director of the Mint by Mr. Brady: Mint or tiii I'niiiu StaT. s, i January 13, >] | 8<a- l have bad reierre.i in me a letter ol youtt lo die Post Office Department, in which you refer lo tbe warn ol gold dollar* tu your ottire, and BOggset your dealrs 10 «¦ \ change for them, at the Mint, American coin of the larger denominations. Friday, Jan. 17-F.M.There waa rather an unsettled Stock market at

the 8ecoud Board to-day, without marked feature, excepting dullness. Canton and Farmers' Loanwaa firm, but generally in the Fancies there were

more sellers than buyers, and quotations were

weaker. Morris was lower, and pressed on themarket, telling at 23, a decline of j f cent. Eriewas also easier, but with little Stock offering. Afew Ohio and Pennsylvania Bonds were sold at

91, but 96 is asked. For Southern Michigan Roadpar was offered. Reading was not very firm. ForGovernment and State Stocks the movement is to

fair extent, and prices are firm. Sales 150,000 D8. 5a for banking purposes. At the Second Boardthere was a much better feeling generally, and quotations for all descriptions advanced..There was an advance of 2 f cent in Canton, selling at 71, with an active demand. A Bear¦ale of 100 shares was made at M|, seller twelvemonths. This Stock sold yesterday at Boston at74. Norwich was also in good demand, 700 shareshaving been sold, closing at 66£, an improvementet" I 4P cent. The tales of Erie were 800 shares, and prices were well sustained. The fall in thisStock ol the last few days has brought in a new

Set of buyers. Eight miles of the Dunkirk end ofthe Road were opened for travel ott the 8th inst.Reading was 71 {, a slight advance on the morningprice. Operators do not seem to be much alarmed by the action of the Pennsylvania Legislature.Harlem remains without much change, but was

heavy. It fluctuates between 70J371L Farm*ers, although firm at the First Hoard, was weakat the 8econd, telling at 66, teller sixty. LongIsland was firmer, going to 19 again. Tho rumor

is that the debt is arranged, and that the Road willsot be sold. Mohawk sold at t%% which is aboutyesterday's price. For Rochester and Syracuse1*3 was bid without sales. A sale of East Bos¬ton was made at 27, the first operations in thisStock for a long time. Stonington was ratherweaker.

In Exchange! the market it quiet, and the ratetare without change, with fair supply. Sterling is10910} i Francs are 5.10.The buaineaa in Freights is dull and quiet, but

rates are unchanged. Engagements of Wheatwere made to Liverpool at 3d ; 200 bales Cotton,3a 6d; 2,000 bbls Turpentine, la 6d, and somo
