Seminole Storytelling: History of a People
Pedro Zepeda-Seminole Storytelling: History of a People
The final event of the 2017 Story Central Adult Storytell-
ing Series is a performance by Seminole storyteller
Pedro Zepeda.
Pedro Zepeda is a Seminole cultural interpreter, artist
and woodcutter. He was born and raised in Naples,
Florida, and graduated from Stetson University with a
degree in fine arts. It was at the Seminole Tribes Ah-
tah-thi-ki museum that he honed his skills in traditional
arts and interpretation of Seminole culture. Growing up, Zepeda heard traditional Seminole stories
from his grandmother and other elders among the tribe. He gleaned many lessons from these sto-
ries that he still applies to his everyday life—and so will you. It's a one-of-a-kind performance not to
be missed!
How the Buzzard Got His Nose, The Lion and the Missing Girl -these and
other age-old myths are not only terrifically entertaining tales, but also the
foundation of the deeply held beliefs and cultural practices of the
Seminoles. This one-of-a-kind performance will open your eyes and mind
to the heartbeat of the people.

Celebrate with story. Fall is the perfect time to gather family and friends. Now is
the time we turn to story to find our common ground, to share our uniqueness and to
build bridges. It can be as simple as coffee with friends or an intimate family dinner. It
can be as elaborate as a theater production for the general public or an open
invitation to those neighbors you’ve never met.

Tellabration
Join the Celebration
The Tellabration story -Tellabration! is a worldwide celebration of storytelling. Originated
by J.G. Pinkerton who envisioned this international event as a means of building community
support for storytelling. In 1988 the event was launched by Connecticut Storytelling Center. By
1997 there were Tellabration! events on every content but Antarctica. And that was before
Facebook or Twitter.
Traditionally Tellabration is held the weekend before Thanksgiving. Which works nicely with the
National Day of Listening, the day after Thanksgiving. Story Corps, the national oral history project,
promoted the idea to take advantage of a time when families are more likely to be together.
