• I am Sharon Kerr, an educator living and working in Abu Dhabi, UAE

• I instruct an on-line class for teachers’ professional development

• I also teach adults English as a foreign language in person

• I have been intrigued by both the similarities and differences of interactions in these two environments

Setting

• The purpose of this project is to compare and contrast flow, rhythm and tempo of a synchronous chat, an asynchronous chat, and an in-person interaction

• The quality of interactions will also be compared and contrasted

• In each interaction a physical problem was set and solved
