Working conditions EVS consist on a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 38 working hours. Normally we will work 32 hours per week, starting on monday until friday afternoon unless in case of special activities. If nothing is announced differently, the working time will be every weekday (Monday to Friday) from 0900h to 1400h (5h/day x 5days/week=25h/week). In adition to this there will be 4h of language and culture and 2 more hours of reinforced mentoring making 31h per week. We’re still missing some hours that will be covered by special activities. These special activities for each week will be announced every previous friday on a planning meeting. We will be working in Arcos da Condesa (4km away Caldas de Reis) and we will provide the transfer. Every day the car will be waiting for you from 0855h and will leave at 0900h. If you miss the car, you will have to find a way to get to the place on your own. Accomodation You will be allocated on a flat rented by Fundación Galicia Sustentable, and the organization is responsible for the proper usage of the flat.

All of you but 1 volunteer will be sharing a room with other person. You are responsible for the cleaning of your room and your use of common places. We will advice you on how to organize this cleaning. Someone from the organization will check every week. Take into account that there are more people living with you and that there are also other neighbours living in the same building. Be always respectful with other’s needs and specially with resting time. From 0000h to 0700h, no noises in the flat, Caldas de Reis has some leisure offer outside where you can stay later than that. This flat is responsible of Fundación Galicia Sustentable and there could be people working in the project who share the flat with you, so no people other than the volunteers and the staff is allowed in the flat. It is forbidden to smoke in the flat and we strongly recommend to avoid drinking alcohol in the house. Pocket money and shopping budget You will receive 105€ as pocket money in four times (25 first Monday, 25 second Monday, 25 third Monday and 35 forth Monday). This money is for your personal expenses. Fundación Galicia Sustentable will be responsible of the logistic needs of the house and you will have a personal weekly budget for meals. It will be an amount enough for

five people but you will struggle if you don’t come to agreements. As a part of the learning process w e will help you to manage this budget in a manner that you can get the most of it. Collaborate is a must in this case. Your free time During the week days (Monday to Friday) every hour that is not scheduled could be considered free time. Managing your free time is important to get the most of this experience. Please, take your time to plan this free time and do not hesitate to ask for our advice on what to do, specially on the weekend as there is a big offer of different activities that can be done in summer time. Your options in Caldas de Reis During the day you can enjoy trekking, jogging and other outdoor sports and in the warmer days you can swim in the natural pools on the waterfall 15 minutes walk away from the flat. Caldas de Reis is on the way for the pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela. This is no longer a religious trip and they always enjoy a little bit the places where they sleep. This is the reason why in summer there here are bars and restaurants opening till 0100h or 0200h every day. During the weekend you also have some discos and pubs.

Besides, in summer every village organizes local celebrations with live music and other spectacles in the street. Vilagarcía Vilagarcía is bigger than Caldas de Reis and you have a mall, McDonalds, Burger King, cinemas and other leisure options. It has the closest beach to Caldas de Reis. Vilagarcía, capital of the Arousa Bay and natural harbour of Santiago de Compostela, has a population of almost 35.000 inhabitants, so it is the eighth city in Galicia. Because of its geographical characteristics, Vilagarcía has become a focus of attention for many people who choose this city to establish their residence (main, second or holiday one). Pontevedra "Pontevedra gives water to travellers" is a Galician proverb that perfectly expresses the essence of this city: its hospitality. This welcoming tradition is reflected in the Pilgrim Virgin, emblem of The Portuguese way to Santiago and patron saint of the city. To honour her, a unique church was built, which has become a national monument, and whose floor is in the shape of a scallop shell! In Pontevedra everything is just a step away and there is so much to see…Genuine treasures, such as the collection of

gold and silver pieces in the Museum of Pontevedra, unique in Europe, with magnificent jewellery dating back 4,000 years. And other jewels, the Church of Santa María, Ruins of Santo Domingo and the Church of San Bartolomé. But there is more still. Parks, tree-lined avenues, walks by the river in the middle of the city and a historic centre that, after that of Santiago, is Galicia's most important. Inhabited stone houses with coats of arms on their façades, fountains and gardens, squares that are full of life and pavement cafés with a lively atmosphere that lasts until the early hours. This is the life. No one sleeps in Pontevedra. Santiago de Compostela World Heritage Site since 1985, for centuries Santiago has attracted visitors and pilgrims from all over the world. It is Galicia's most cosmopolitan city, but it takes it in a matter-of-fact way, which is why from the very beginning you feel like you are a part of it. Here you have everything. In the history quarter, the Cathedral and Pórtico de la Gloria. Symbolic squares such the Obradoiro, Quintana and O Toural. Dozens of churches, convents and palaces. Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque. And stores, bars, restaurants and a lovely food market overflowing with fresh goods. Also, in the city centre, the tree-lined avenue

(alameda) with its camellia trees and the Paseo de la Herradura promenade that offers a wonderful view of the cathedral. And at the edge of the Sar river, the church Colegiata de Santa María and its imposing inclined columns. Santiago is wonderful. And that is how it makes you feel. Other places to visit You can also visit Vigo and A Coruña, the two biggest cities in Galicia. They are more or less 1’5h away from Caldas de Reis by bus. Of course there is much more to see and enjoy in Galicia. Check the Internet or ask some friends and we will be glad to help you find the way to get to these places or booking rooms or beds.
