My issues Budget – FNAL (DOE?) backed out as treasurer
midstream. This was a difficult transition because budget made with one set of rules and implemented with another. In the end, it’s better if it’s NOT DOE.
Transportation – many people wanted local transportation. FNAL conference office experience is that this is actually rarely used.
SPMS – teething pains for RT. Don’t know if I would use again, but was great to have local help.
Vendors – could have had more. Limited by power/space. Conference could benefit some consistency from year to
year in certain functions – proceedings editor, treasurer, webmaster.
NPSS Should REALLY, REALLY have proceedings and TNS transactions formats the same and have word and latex templates for both.
How to “encourage” people to adhere to submission deadlines?

More issues
Banquet – well attended. Most non-attendees were local FNAL/ANL
Too many orals – move some more to posters. This is a hard choice since you don’t always know the “good” speakers. The number of speakers made for a long day and late afternoon talks were not always well attended.
Plenary sessions right outside FNAL cafeteria worked very well. as most of the day you could see small groups involved in great discussions. People could drift in and out of plenary talks easily and had table space/refreshments to chat.
Power – people wanted power in the auditorium so they could run their laptops all day. I have mixed feelings about this. It’s good that they run out of power and actually listen to the talks instead of reading email.
