Life on the Ranch

It’s quiet out here on the ranch. Away rom the noise and temptations o the modern world,

teens nd time to hear themselves think and learn to listen.

Resolution Ranch is a working ranch with Longhorn cattle, horses and exotic animals. Allresidents stay in the air-conditioned 6,000 sq. t. acility that has the bunk room, bathrooms, oces and a commercial kitchen. As part o the program, teens learn to nurture living things

they care or the animals and take part in typical ranch work such as repairing ences, buildingstables and working in the ranch garden. As part o their routine chores, residents do their owlaundry, help in the kitchen and clean the bathroom and bunk house.

As they move up the R.A.N.C.H ladder and earn trust, residents also earn privileges includingmovie night, riding horses, playing basketball, volleyball, baseball, paintball and shing in thestock pond. We also utilize the 500 acres o the ranch or camping trips and wilderness

adventures that demonstrate the possibilities o teamwork and community.

A typical day’s activities might include physical tness, equine therapy, academics, ranch duties and individual and group therapy. Residents participate in outdoor activities tha

oster cooperation and communication, and receive personal tutoring in areas o academic

weakness. Trough these therapeutic activities, we help teens conront dicult issues and guithem along the path to ull recovery.

Residents must progress through the ve-level R.A.N.C.H system, rom Ranch Hand to Cowbo

in order to graduate our program. At each level, residents ocus on ve concepts, each o whichrequires an activity or written response that is read and evaluated by a counselor.

A teen moves up the R.A.N.C.H ladder by successully completing his level work and by dem-onstrating that he is applying what he’s learning to increase his powers o introspection and

rational sel-evaluation. As they move through the levels, teens complete a program workbookspecically designed to help them cope with pressures and resist old patterns when they returhome.

Resolution Ranch is ully accredited by the State o exas as a therapeutic treatment center.

Troughout ateen’s stay, our sta is in close communication with the parents as well as the counselors andadministrators at his home school. We work with a resident’s junior high or high school toprovide academic materials that will not only get him on track, but also help him to get ahead

Upon a resident’s arrival, our curriculum coordinator evaluates his academic progress andtranscript. Our sta researches the district and state graduation or grade-level requirements

the student’s home state and generates an educational course outline to t the resident’sspecic needs. Resolution Ranch oers a variety o scholastic options and can provide highschool credit through any number o independent study programs. Our program is approved b

the exas Education Agency to provide distance learning to students o all ages.

In a typical day, residents spend our hours working on schoolwork. Te structure o ourschool oers numerous opportunities or children to be successul, supported by our lowteacher-to-student ratio. By providing individual attention and personal tutoring, we help

residents achieve mastery and condence in dicult areas. In addition to the educational staa counselor is present during class to aid residents. Progress reports, generated every twoweeks, eature one section devoted to educational process to keep parents up-to-date about
