Year 1 enjoy running on the School fields whilst Year 7 enjoy reconnecting with friends

The good weather this week reflected the mood across

Rougemont as we welcomed all pupils back to the

School site from Monday.

For our pupils is KS3 (Years 7 – 9), apart from their

keeping in touch days at the end of last term, this week

marks their formal return to School since 2020.

The corridors are filled with excited chatter once again

as pupils enjoy reconnecting with friends and get back

to learning in the classroom with their teachers.

We’re pleased to report that all pupils are continuing to

be sensible and safe upon their return and we look

forward to a successful Summer Term.

Mr R Carnevale | Headmaster

WELCOME TO THE ROUGMEONT FAMILY!

I am passionate about teaching children to reach their

full potential and supporting them to fall in love with

learning. I will be working in the Prep School and have

spent the week getting to know the incredible children

and teachers at Rougemont school, everyone has

been so welcoming and kind!

Although I am new to teaching at Rougemont, I have

been part of the Rougemont family for some time. I

was a pupil here, as was my husband and my mother

in law taught here in the LDC department for many

years so it really does feel like coming home.

Previously, I worked at Undy Primary School in every

year group from Nursery-Year 6 and was also the

Foundation Phase Lead.

I enjoy spending time with my wonderful family, walking

our two dogs and generally being outdoors. I love to

read, bake and travel. I have been lucky enough to

travel to some amazing countries, I think my favourite

country to visit has to be Australia.

I cannot wait to begin this new chapter at Rougemont- I

truly have the best job in the world.

Mrs Morgan | Prep School ALN Teacher

GOOD LUCK

Good luck to our pupils across KS4 and Sixth Form who are

starting their GCSE and A Level assessments this week.

Pupils across KS4 and Sixth Form have settled back into

School very well and are working extremely hard together with

their teachers as they study for the assessments.

It’s a little different to the formal examinations that we’ve been

used to over the years, but we are proud of the way the pupils

have adapted to this new way of assessing and have no

doubt they will do extremely well.

WELCOME TO MRS

MORGAN!

GOOD LUCK TO PUPILS IN

YEARS 10 - 13

Hello Everyone! My name is Mrs. Morgan and I am the new ALN teacher at Rougemont School.

I’m Maddie and I’m studying Art and Design in Year 12.

I decided to study Art because I am very creative and

believe this will benefit my career aspirations in

property development. I also find art has always been a

way for me to relax and unwind.

Challenge: For this week’s art challenge I would like

you to create a piece of work inspired by your own

home. This can be as abstract or realistic as you like

and you can complete using any materials such as

drawing, painting, photography, sculpture etc… I

created a mini sculpture of my own house using a hot

glue gun!

please submit a clear JPEG image of your artwork to

[email protected] by Monday 26th

April 2021.

SUPER STAFF PROFILES

Name: Mrs Elms

School Position: English & Film Studies Teacher

Star Sign: Capricorn

Name: Mrs Exley

School Position: Prep School Art Teacher

Star Sign: Cancer

What skill do you think everyone should have?

I think everyone should have a talent. It is so important to

feel passionate about at least one thing, art/creativity,

sport, music, reading, writing, science, etc., something

you really enjoy spending time doing. It’s good for the

heart and soul.

What’s your favourite place you’ve ever visited?

New Zealand, what an amazing country, I visited it a few

years ago and was blown away by its natural beauty,

mountains, volcanoes, beaches and glaciers. The South

Island is so picturesque with the most amazing aqua

colour sea and vast mountain ranges. Queenstown was

a favourite spot to stop and people watch.

As a child what did you want to be when you grow

up?

I’ve always had a passion for art and being creative, I

even used to have a knitting machine that I would sit for

hours designing my own jumpers and what’s more

wearing them! However, I wanted to be an air

stewardess or cabin crew as they are known as

nowadays.

What is your favourite season and why?

My favourite season has to be Spring. It’s a time when

we leave those long dreary winter months behind and

look forward to longer days, shorter nights and warmer

weather. I love the blossom on the trees, daffodils and

primroses. These are clear signs that spring is here!

Cats or Dogs?

I’m an animal lover, so both. However, I have two dogs,

a Spaniel and a Goldie who we rescued when she was 7

months.

PAGE 16

Coffee or tea?

Tea! I average about 8 cups a day and my

daily favourite is Twining's Extra Strong English

Breakfast. High Tea at Raffles Hotel in Singapore is

high on my travel bucket list, too.

Cats or dogs?

Cats. I have a beautiful tortoiseshell called Antigone.

What is your favourite season and why?

Spring - still cold and crisp, but plenty of glorious

sunshine.

What are your reading right now?

I have 3 books on the go currently:

Becoming by Michelle Obama - a fascinating

autobiography from the former First Lady.

Mythos by Stephen Fry - a wickedly funny retelling

of traditional Greek myths.

Sky Pirates: Echo Quickthorn and the Great Beyond

by Alex English - I am reading this with my 7 year

old and its packed full of adventure and excitement.

If you had to play one album forever which one

would it be?

The Travelling Wilburys Collection. It's an absolute

classic and I never tire of it.
