The Rougemont Review Issue 23: 20 April 2018 WELCOME BACK... ...to the Summer Term and I hope you all had an excellent Easter break. As we begin the last term of the academic year, work is progressing on the new build and whilst there has been a delay due to the weather, we believe the new Refectory, Auditorium and Sixth Form Centre will be integral to the development of the School. Work continues apace around the site as we progress with works to improve the environment for pupils, staff and visitors to the School. Our LDC department was re-located to its new home during the Easter break meaning work can start soon on the Hollies @ Rougemont Pre-Nursery, and I hope to be able to tell you about exciting plans to significantly improve our sporting facility over the next few weeks. I am also keen to celebrate all our pupils’ successes both inside and outside School, so if you have any news, please contact Helen Marshall, Marketing & Development Manager so that we can include it in future newsletters and on social media and the School website. EASTER HOLIDAY CLUBS The Easter holiday programme at the School was very impressive. Holiday clubs on offer included: Christian Malcolm Athletics Camp, Cardiff City Football Camp, Newport Rugby Camp, Rougemont Equestrian Camp and Playworks Lots of pupils took part in the camps which was pleasing. We are looking to have more camps in the future, including netball, hockey and cricket to provide further opportuinities so please look out for these. If you have any ideas for camps you would like to see at School, please contact Andy Knight. GROW A POUND CHALLENGE Next Friday sees the finale of the first Grow a Pound event which has been organised with the support of Rougemont PTA. Pupils in Years 2-6 were offered the chance to use £1 donated to each pupil by the PTA and then make that ‘grow’ in whatever way they decided. As a result, next Friday from 3-4pm, we will have over 30 stalls each selling products the children have made from their £1. The event will take place in the Junior playground or Sports Hall, weather dependant. Pupils and parents will be invited to attend the event, purchase items and see who wins this year’s challenge.
