As Headteacher, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Ss John Fisher and Thomas More Roman Catholic High School, in Colne.

Fisher More is a highly successful, happy and thriving comprehensive school which sits right in the heart of the community it serves in Pendle, East Lancashire. It is in an enviable location with views of Pendle Hill and surrounding countryside from nearly every room in the school.

The school has roots firmly based in the Catholic tradition. We welcome students from any faith or background who are wanting and willing to support our unique mission and ethos.

We work on a daily basis to live out our mission and to actively encourage ‘all our bright colours to shine’. We aim to seek out and nurture the skills and talents in everyone so that we all become the best that we can be.

I am proud to say that our examination results are year on year the best in Pendle and often the best in East Lancashire. All students

leave here with everything they need to secure their future success.

Ofsted and Diocesan Inspections 2016 highlighted the very many strengths that exist in the school – it continues to be a very ‘good’ school. Please read on-line the high praise we were given in both inspections.

Fisher More is on a journey of improvement. We are a school that doesn’t rest on its laurels; we are constantly looking for ways to improve the great things we do already to make them ever better. Teaching and Learning… engaging, enriching, enjoyable

and excitingAt Fisher More, we aspire to create a lifelong love of learning in our pupils. Our ever-developing curriculum responds to the needs, interests and abilities of all our pupils, and offers a balance between traditional and innovative teaching. At Fisher More, you will learn languages through song; develop computer programming skills with Lego; dress up as a First World War soldier; ‘suffer’ a Victorian education at Styal Mill, Cheshire, and get messy and hands-on at the Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester. These activities are just part of the rich learning experience you will encounter at our school.

We also value the importance of learning outside the classroom, and for that reason we provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities. In 2016, for example, our pupils have explored the wonders of Berlin and Krakow, and the beauty of Borrowdale; amazed audiences with their production of ‘The Railway Children’; performed with panache at The Pendle Music Festival; contemplated their faith at Castlerigg in the Lake District and experienced a surfeit of sporting opportunities for all.
