1)Develop an innovative idea and a brief plan for the automated email system failure.   Points: Set up an activities and special events page with descriptions

that is viewed before their checkout page online. Have a list of activities and events that will be occurring

during their stay This means you have to have scheduled events and activities

up to a certain point Now when they checkout they will see this page and can add

these activities or events to their stay for an extra price Now if the stay is to far in advance – send them an email

saying you will have activities and special events for your stay soon and when you do email them back to register for them.

Sign back in under their registered stay and they can get to the events page to sign up

It doesn’t need to be personalized because everyone knows that it is for the general public who stay here.

Question 2: Reread the Microsoft Surface Innovation in

Practice (pg 114) and its related Collaboration Exercise (pg 137). Describe one innovation application of Surface at your university. Consider that application from the standpoint of a systems development project. Develop a brief plan for this project using the SDLC. List major tasks that need to be performed at each stage.

Stephen

We have to identify the system definition

We need to meet the requirements analysis

You need to have a component design

You need a implementationYou need to figure out the

systems maintenance

* It would be in the best interest of the school to make this possible

* Yes there would be mistakes along the way but in the end the need for these changes is to think of newer features and what we really need.

# 3 (Choir innovation)

-Spreadsheet in figure 1 is used to track the assignment of sheet music to a choir (school or church)-Sheet music= expensive> choir members must take it home to practice> and it doesn’t all get back to inventory*Data integrity problems here:-Sandra Corning and Linda Duong have same copy of music?-Mozart and J.S. Bach write Requiem or in row 15 should J.S. Bach actually be Mozart?-Too many digits in Eleanor Dixon’s phone #-Several phone numbers are the same This spreadsheet is confusing and hard to use-First name column includes both names of people and choruses -Email has both email add and composer names-Phone has both phone #s and copy identifiers

To record a check out> user must 1st add a new row> re-enter the name of the week, composers name, and copy to be checked out

To find all copies of a particular work> user must examine the rows in each of the four spreadsheets for the four voice parts

Spread sheet= ill suited for this applicationData bases would be a far better tool

- Process used to develop info systems- Project managers agreed that basic tasks need to be performed to successfully build and maintain info systems

Systems definition= uses managements statement of the system need to define and plan the new systemRequirements analysis= developers identify the particular features and functions of the new system.Component design= the output of phase 2 is a set of approved users requirements which become the primary input used to design system componentsImplementation= developers implement, test, and install the new systemSystem maintenance=over time problems, errors, and mistakes will occur and new feature changes will have to be made; this phase starts the process all over again which is why the process is considered a cycle.

Systems definition> to track the assignment of sheet music to a choir (school or church)Requirement analysis> System should contain separate columns for person’s full name, email, phone #, Part, composer, type of music; it should allow one to easily type in a person’s info and what sheet music they checked out, and should have it automatically arrange in a certain way.Component design>Determine the specifications of what the database should include. Create formulas if necessary for inputting new infoImplementation> people should test out the system and see if its effective and organized wellSystems maintenance> take out anything that adds confusion

#4 the Sundog expeditions collaboration provides river rafting adventures in Idaho, Oregon and Alaska. Sundog expeditions wants to expand its current its current website to include social networking. the object of this question is to consider that addition from the standpoint of a system development project and develop a brief plan for this project using SDLC

1)  System definition- first they would be a team of IS personnel to map out exactly what the system is suppose to do and the goals of the system. Such as E-Mailing, instant Messaging, picture posting, etc.

2)  Requirements- this is the most important step in the plan. Sundog must figure out if they need a Data Model for the new applications that will be put into the social networking aspect of the website. They will also need forms and reports from the existing systems to see if they are compatible with the new systems. And last they must seek user approval before moving on to the next stage of the process.

3)  Component Design- Sundog must take into considering these five aspects when going over component design; Hardware, program, database, procedure, and design of Job descriptions.

4)  Implementation- once the design is complete sundog must build, test, and convert the users of all there social networking applications to the new system. This includes procedures for using the system to communicate and network with others. the developers must obtain, install, and test all hardware. this includes procedures for starting, stopping, and operating the system.

5)  System Maintenance- this just means constantly keeping up to date with the social networking flaws of the sundog site and fixing them. They will probably also be updating the site with new features and applications.  Furthermore, they must keep up with requests for enhancements and first priority is to fix the failures of the system.
