    Journey Outline:

There are 5 different journeys that you may take (A,B,C,D and E). Each journey visits different destination cities, but the difficulty level is the same for each. Each journey consists of 3 different trips that will take you around the world. Within each trip, you will visit 3 different destinations. You have the option of completing all 3 trips of your journey or you may end your journey after trip 1 or 2. If you complete only trip 1, you will receive a BRONZE certificate of completion. If you complete trips 1 and 2, you will receive a SILVER certificate of completion. If you complete all 3 trips of your journey, you will receive a GOLD certificate of completion. You can include any certificate that you receive in your resume or portfolio. As you complete each trip of your journey, you will also be entered into a drawing for a prize!    You will not know ahead of time which cities and countries you will visit during your journey. As you arrive in each destination, take time to learn about the place and complete each Exploration and Excursion task to the best of your ability. The work you submit for each task must be your own—plagiarism is not allowed on this journey.

  • Let’s Get Started!

    ● If you are completing this as an assignment for class, ask your teacher which journey you should embark on and how many trips you should aim to complete. If you are working on your own, you may choose any of the 5 journeys to begin and complete as many trips as you like.

    ● In order to complete your journey, you will need to have internet access and be logged into a Google account. We apologize that this is the only method of completing the journeys at this time.

    ● Make sure that you change the sharing settings to “anyone with the link can view” for each document you plan to submit or you will be ineligible for the prize drawing.

    ● To begin the race, click on the route that you would like to take (ask your teacher which one you should start with!). The routes are all the same level of difficulty—they just visit different cities! See the next page for helpful tips for your journey.

    Tips for Your Journey:

Completing and Submitting Tasks: ● To open the EXPLORATION and EXCURSION instructions, you may be asked to

“make a copy” of the document. Click on “make a copy” so that you can see you instructions.

    ● Before you submit your completed EXPLORATIONS and EXCURSIONS, you should make sure that the share settings are set so that anyone with the link can view the document. To do this, follow these steps:

    ○ Click on Share in the top right corner ○ Click on Get Shareable Link ○ Choose the selection that says “anyone with the link can view” ○ Copy the link and paste it into the Google form for that activity

    ■ Do NOT just copy and paste the link at the top of the browser—this will not allow anyone to view your work

    ■ NOTE: If you have a school Google account that does not let you share links, you may change your settings to share the file with the e-mail [email protected]

    ● If you are having trouble sharing your documents, ask your teacher or use this link to help you

    ● To submit your work, copy the shareable link and paste it into the Google Form in the designated spot

Why do I have to share my documents? ● This will allow us to view your work to ensure that you have completed all parts of

the race to be eligible for the prize drawing and to receive your certificate of completion.

Using Google My Maps: ● When you arrive at your destinations, you will be using Google My Maps. When you

see the map, look for the purple pin icon and click on it. This is where you will find information for the next step.

    ● If the link is not clickable on the map, you may have to manually type in the bit.ly link into a new browser—-the links will not work on any map apps, only on a browser!

    ● If the map doesn’t load, try using the Google Chrome internet browser Submitting Google Forms:

    ● To answer questions and submit your work, you will complete Google Forms. After you click “submit”, make sure you read the information that appears on the screen. These will be the instructions for your next step.

    How to Pause your Journey:

  • ● If you need to take a break from your journey, be sure to copy and paste the last link you were given in a safe place so that you can come back to the spot you left!

How to End your Journey: ● When you complete one trip of your journey, you are able to stop or continue on to

the next trip. To continue, simply click “continue my journey” when prompted by the Google Form. You may complete 1, 2 or all 3 trips of the journey. For each trip of the journey completed, you will be entered into the prize drawing. (If you complete all 3 trips, you will have 3 entries!)

How to Enter the Prize Drawing: ● As you complete each trip of your journey, you will be automatically prompted to

enter your name and e-mail address to be entered into the drawing!
