    EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA!

CHILDREN, GRAB A BASKET AND BRING A PARENT FOR AN EASTER EGG HUNT

    Saturday, April 13, 10:00-11:30 a.m.

Come celebrate Easter 8 days early! Bring friends and family.

The egg hunt will be outside in two groups, young and older children.

There will be Stories, Music & Crafts, Candy & Prizes.

    Invite your friends and neighbors

    I give you a new

    commandment: that

    you should love one

    another. Just as I

    have loved you, so

    you too should love

    one another.

    John 13:34

    WHY PRAY?

Love can change America, “We need a baptism of love by the Holy Spirit that will immerse the entire Church of Jesus Christ in America and a baptism of love that will immerse all of America today, from the church house to the state house and all the way to the White House, we need to learn to love one another.”

The theme “love one another” is one that has potential to engage all Americans because it is biblical, relevant, clear, simple, and understandable.

The vast majority of America that doesn’t look like us, believe like us, talk like us, and understand us, they understand that America’s broken. They may not understand why. But they understand America’s broken, and in their mindset, if there’s a God who exists, He’s about the only one who can fix America.

Calling believers across the nation to unite in prayer in the days leading up to and on the National Day of Prayer, on May 2, 2019.

Dr. Ronnie Floyd the Senior Pastor of Cross Church, President of the National Day of Prayer

    HISTORY

The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988, the law was unanimously amended by both the House and the Senate and signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on Thursday, May 5, 1988, designating the first Thursday of May as a day of national prayer. Every president since 1952 has signed a National Day of Prayer proclamation.

    EASTER! RESURRECTION SUNDAY!

The day Jesus, who was crucified and died on Good Friday, came back to life.

Our church is an Easter church. "Risen Savior" proclaims loud and clear that

Jesus is alive and is no longer dead. Although our focus in the Christian church

is often centered on the suffering and death of Jesus on the cross, it would be of

no use unless Jesus rose from the dead. Yes, Christ's death paid for the penalty

of humanity's sin; but without Easter there would be no real and lasting victory.

" And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” 1 Corinthians 15:17

    Risen Savior Lutheran Church

WORSHIP committed to the inspired Word of God

CONNECT in small groups that welcome, accept and love through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

SERVICE to our community and the world through mission and outreach

    “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;

and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” John 11:25-26

When Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life,” He was claiming to be the

source of both. There is no resurrection apart from Christ, and there is no

eternal life apart from Christ. A while earlier in Bethany, outside the tomb of

Lazarus, “Jesus called in a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come forth!’

The dead man came out” (John 11:43). It’s one thing to claim to be the

resurrection and the life, but Jesus proved it by raising Lazarus,

    who was four days dead.

The meaning of Easter is Jesus Christ's victory over death. Easter is a

celebration of the gift God gave us through the death, burial, and resurrection

of his Son, Jesus Christ. God made the ultimate sacrifice, as a father, by

sending his one and only son to take on the atonement for our sins. After 3 days

Jesus wasn't dead anymore, but alive and is still alive today "seated at the right

    hand of the Father."

Christ's resurrection is the single most important event to occur in the history

of Christianity, for according to Paul:

Our lives are eternally changed because we have a "Risen Savior."

He is risen! He is Risen, indeed!

    Rev. Philip J. Cameron

    Senior Pastor

    Church Fellowship

    is a mutual bond

    that Christians have

    with Christ

    that puts us

    in a deep, eternal

    relationship

    with one another.

10 Insights About Your Church’s Fellowship

by Joe McKeever's 10 insights summarized

    1. Fellowship is the heartbeat of your congregation. Simply stated, it is the life of this church family. Do the people enjoy one another? As a doctor places his stethoscope up to the chest and listens to a patient’s heartbeat, the pulse of a congregation is that sound after church is over. Listen closely, friend. It will tell you a world about your church.

    2. Fellowship may not be why people are drawn to your church, but it’s why they stay. My strong suspicion is that 95 percent of first-time visitors to your church are looking for fellowship, whether they know it or not.

    3. Fellowship is composed of three layers, each one vital. At the heart of everything is a commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord. This is personal (each must do it), private (it takes place in the hidden depths of the heart), and ongoing (yesterday’s commitment needs to be reaffirmed today and again tomorrow).

    4. The newcomer sees these in reverse order: Hospitality first, then Joy, and lastly Commitment. Did you welcome the newcomer? Were they made to feel wanted? The second thing a visitor will notice is the members’ relationship to each other. Do the members enjoy one another? When church dismisses, do they hang around greeting and talking and laughing? Do any of them go to lunch together afterwards? Do they do work projects and are their classes enjoyable?

    5. Outsiders usually have no idea they are craving fellowship, but they do. God made us for Himself, ’tis true. But He also made us for fellowship with one another. When God’s creation lives in isolation, life becomes warped and turns inward and people become far less than He intended. We crave love.

    6. A wise church will make fellowship one of their primary goals and will work for it, in both planned and unplanned ways. Planned fellowship takes place in Sunday School classes, at church dinners, receptions, and on work projects. Unplanned fellowship occurs prior to scheduled meeting times, as well as immediately afterwards.

    7. The greatest enemy of fellowship in the church is the sinful heart. A great church with a living, loving fellowship must protect that “family life” from all that would destroy it. In our selfishness, we tire of togetherness and experience giving fatigue and begin wanting to spend God’s resources on ourselves.

    8. A dying church will begin dying here first.

    9. Leadership must value fellowship highly and protect it, otherwise it will be supplanted by lesser things. When we get caught up in the busyness of church life to the point that we no longer have time to meet another couple for coffee or invite another family over for pizza, we’ve become too busy for our own good.

    10. God loves it when His children laugh. When the Lord saves us, He puts us into a church fellowship. When we love Him, we treasure His people and enjoy being with them.

Especially at this time of year, we are reminded to celebrate our new life

in Christ. We joined God’s family and became one of His kids. Look at

what the Word has to say about our new life in Christ:

“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from

the dead, lives in you. And just as God

raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will

give life to your mortal bodies by this same

    Spirit living within you.”

Our church is also entering a new season of life: new Worship, Children’s

and Youth Directors, new website, freshly painted and carpeted facility,

and prayerfully, a new Associate Pastor.

The evidence of God breathing new life into this congregation is

apparent. The Holy Spirit is at work; He lives in you!

My encouragement is to engage as the Body of Christ; engage in His

church here at Risen Savior. Meet new people. Connect with others to

study and discuss the Word of God. Love on each other. Abide in Him.

    Serve the Lord with gladness!

This is the new life in Christ Jesus.

    Happy Easter!

Pack Away Hunger in March was AWESOME!

The Pack Away Hunger Event was another huge success thanks to all the

wonderful people who contributed toward the cost of the food and to those who

attended the event. We were able to provide $4,110 toward the cost of the raw

materials ($2000 was from the budget, $1360 from congregation contribution,

as well as support from the Foothills Kiwanis group and Thrivent).

Seventy-three people came to Broomfield Salvation Army to help us pack on

March 9. Fifty-four of these were from Risen Savior. Thanks to the Foothill

Kiwanis and Wells Fargo for sending some more volunteers and thanks to the

guests of some of our members who also attended. With everyone’s help, we

packaged 17,280 meals, which is the most we have ever packaged! Thanks to all

who came, and special thanks to the children and teens who came to the event.

You were awesome! The meals will be sent to Haiti.

Thanks to Captain Mark and Captain Sherry Czanderna of the Salvation Army

who were hosts of the event and helped unload the truck and set up the event.

Thanks to Lori Hakes for designating this project as Children’s Christian

Ministry mission. The children made cards to let the people in Haiti know that

we love them. Thanks to Ron and Betty Friedrich, Theresa Sinner and Pat

Stoehr for planning the event. Watch for the next event in August or September.

THANK YOU CHILDREN AND PARENTS FOR HELPING!

Children took turns packing food, placing cards we made in the boxes, and decorating the boxes. Boxes were shipped to Haiti.

Lori Hakes , Director of Children’s Ministry

    Dear Facility Update Volunteers,

Thank you so very much for your hard work tearing down and re-assembling

the church facility during the paint/carpet project in March. We couldn’t

have done it without you! Over 35 volunteers raised their hand to help,

including Cornerstone Ministry (thank you Kevin Hischke and the guys!),

Praise Team (thank you Sarah O’Connor, Fred Wood, and Team!), Nan

Krueger, Daryl Meske, Mark & Maria Dolan, Duclos family, the Rich

Fernandez family, Youth (Brianna, Spencer, Lauren Hakes, and Jailyn), and

all our wonderful Staff. We are blessed with a beautiful, updated facility!

    PROVIDING FOR

    THE NEEDY OF

    BROOMFIELD

EASTER BASKET DRIVE Join us at Risen Savior Lutheran Church to prepare “Easter Baskets”

Do you have a heart for people in need in the Broomfield area? Help local families celebrate the Savior this Easter with an Easter food basket. Help is needed to accomplish a goal of 75 baskets for families.

Pick up a list at the Missions and Outreach table in the Fellowship Hall, purchase food items and drop back off at the FISH display at the Missions and Outreach table in the Fellowship Center.

BROOMFIELD FISH COLLECTION THROUGH APRIL 5

    Dear Members,

FISH Feb & March 2018 Thank you for helping feed families and fuel hope in Broomfield! We cannot tell you how much we appreciate your generous donation of to FISH. February 5 of 20 pounds of food, February 20 of 22 pounds of food and personal care items, March 6, of 29 pounds of food, March 15, of 92 pounds of food, and March 18, 2019 of 39 pounds of food and personal care items were donated. It means the world to us! As a Family Resource Center, our goal at FISH is to make sure that nobody ever goes hungry and that families have the resources and support to become self-reliant. Last year we helped more than 6,000 unduplicated Broomfield residents and distributed nearly 900,000 pounds of food. More than half of the people we serve are children, seniors on a fixed income and those with a disability! Please know that you have made a real difference in the lives of your neighbors. Because of your generosity and commitment, 92 cents of every dollar goes directly to supporting families in need. March 2019 FISH success story: A single mother with two children works full-time and receives alimony and child support from her ex-husband. She is barely able to pay bills with that income, so has been coming to FISH for food. Her family has been stable for more than a year; however, her ex-husband works for the Federal Government in California and was furloughed. He was not able to send her child support or alimony in January. FISH was able to assist her with emergency rent funds so that she and her family would not be evicted. You are invaluable to Broomfield FISH and we are proud to call you friends.

    With deep gratitude,

Dayna Scott, Executive Director Broomfield FISH

We still have 6 blankets that need to be sewn, if you can help sew please see Gladys Sweetwood in the church office. The remainder of fleece is being made into tie blankets for the kids at Mount Saint Vincent.

This has been a wonderful outreach for many years, but it seems to have lost its wind as fewer and fewer ladies are able to help sew the blankets.

    EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES FOR POSITIVE CHANGE

    THROUGH CHRISTIAN CARE AND LEARNING

    Small But Mighty Mission Team

In February, SHC had the privilege of hosting our first short-term volunteer team from St John Church (Ellisville, Missouri) in our new Kampot

community. St. John’s (soon to be Pathfinder Church) has been a valuable part of our ministry here in Cambodia. Partner churches have helped us make the dream of SHC become reality through their financial support, prayers and feet-on-the ground mission team efforts. Although this recent team was a small

group of only four people they proved to be a mighty team of faith, well prepared for assisting in God’s mission in Kampot.

    Mission Trip Highlights

With the help of this mission partnership, SHC provided health education for 46 parents covering personal hygiene topics including handwashing, tooth brushing, and head lice.

The mission team led a VBS providing a first-time experience for 65 SHC kids to participate in this kind of fun learning activities about Jesus. The focus was that God is good all the time even when life is sad, scary, surprising, unfair, changing, or unhappy.

Because Valentine’s Day can easily lead our youth in Cambodia to dishonor themselves, each other and their beautiful culture, David Jamison, from St. John’s, led our 7th to 9th grade students about love and respect for friends, family members, and others. Our youth were encouraged to embrace the model of Jesus’ love instead of following their worldly passions.

Other mission team projects making a positive impact on our students and parents included painting murals of God’s creation, improving the playground equipment, and holding special English classes for our students.

Relationships were formed between the mission team and our students enjoying daily fun together. The mission team participated in home visits that helped strengthen the trust between SHC and the surrounding community.

    Prayer & Encouragement

What joy and encouragement it is to witness our SHC students praying before classes and at mealtime, joyfully singing Christian songs, and eagerly learning Bible stories. Our students love sharing these with those who come to visit us. Please join us in praying for God’s continued help by opening the minds and hearts of our students and families to receive His word and for us to be open vessels as we reflecting His love and care to them.

    Partner with Us

We are thankful to the Lord for the opportunity to collaborate with St. John in helping Cambodian children and families grow in His knowledge through their presence here with us. If your church has not visited or partnered with us, we challenge you to consider supporting us prayerfully and financially. We welcome and encourage you to come and visit us personally. We need your help in transforming lives through intentional Gospel proclamation to our local Muslim and Buddhist community. It is through your support, prayers, and the power of the Holy Spirit that SHC is able to share the gospel in a personal way to this community who is in desperate need of Jesus.

    "For we are co-workers in

    God's service; you are God's

    filed, God's building."

During the last week of February we had the privilege of having Pastor Jeff Prewitt from New Hope Church in Neenah, Wisconsin come and train the Hmong pastors and their wives on “Stewardship”. Pastor Prewitt used Abraham’s life of faith as an example for being a steward of God’s gift of services. (To see a video of the training, click here: https://vimeo.com/322275184).

As a part of their training, some of the pastors and their wives came to work on the wall at our children center for four days before class started. They worked hard to finish the first part of the wall that was started by our volunteers from the US in December. There is still much work needing to be done before the wall surrounding Ban Hmong’s Hostel is completed. We give thanks to the Lord for our Hmong pastors and their wives from Laos,Vietnam, and Thai for their time and energy. We also thank New Life Lutheran Church in Hugo, Minnesota for donating the funds to finish the first part of the wall. (Here is a link to a video of the wall that is completed: https://vimeo.com/321394388)

During the training, the Hmong pastors and their wives learned the im-portance of what it means to have faith. Faith is not just a mental trusting in God alone. It is active with deeds. Their work on the wall was a good example of how their faith is alive and active.

They learned to serve others with their time and energy in faith and not

for monetary rewards. They learned that they must teach the members of

their congregations to do good works because of the faith God gave to

    them as a gift.

Your missionaries: Fung, Kalia and Mercy Lo

    PRAYER REQUESTS

From March 20-25, we will be relocating our children from Huayniam Christian Children Hostel to Ban Hmong’s Hope Hostel. It has been a very difficult process for us. It will be challenging for the children and staff at both hostels to adjust to each other, so we need your prayers for humility, peace, and cooperation.

We are starting some businesses for missions to generate financial support from within Thailand to do the Lord’s work. Here are some of the things that you can do to support our businesses for missions’ efforts:

    1) Donate children and teens’ used clothes.

    2) Order our Mission Coffee.

    3) Help fund a vehicle for our Mission Mobile Medical Clinic (3MC). Estimated cost is $25,000.

    4) Help fund ten motorcycles for our Hmong pastors to do outreach ministry. Estimated budget is $10,000.

    To financially support the Lord’s

    work through our family, please

    tions to:
