It’s exceptional precise, clean and almost burr-free cut reduces reworking to almost zero. “Up to now face grinding was not allowed with an abrasive cutting disc. The safety specifications for lateral resilience as set out in DIN EN 12413 were not usually met by thinner cutting disc widths. There was a risk of the discs breaking if the outer fabric was damaged. The challenge was to develop a disc that offers all the advantages of an extra-thin disc but can still be used for subsequent grinding work. The CROSS is only 1.9 mm thick and is the first extra-thin cutting disc that CAN be used for light grinding!”

“Over 60 years of grinding with no outlook. Almost an anniversary, but an annoying one. Because since the hand-held angle grinder was invented you can’t see where and how much you are grinding. The tarnishing that occurs due to an excessive build up of heat often damages the workpieces – sometimes so badly that they become useless. Excessive stock removal is another problem. This calls for expensive reworking. The constant checks to avoid processing errors that were necessary up to now have meant that the machine has to be repeatedly set down and picked up. Thanks to its recesses the LSZ F VISION becomes transparent during rotation (cf. Fig. below and left). This guarantees a free view of the workpiece, the user sees how much and where he is grinding. This allows a permanent check of the results without putting the machine down: the stock removal can thus be selec-tively controlled to reduce costly processing errors. When fine grinding and polishing high grade materials such as stainless steel, processing errors are often very expensive, tarnishing and material distortion can render the workpiece useless. Based on the VISION concept, the non-woven flap disc VLS also becomes transparent during work. The FS1 FUSION combines the long life of a grinding disc with the fine grinding pattern of a flap disc. It works with high finish in fillet welds so that the work piece can be galvanised or lacquered immediately afterwards. It is available in various grits – doing away with additional fine grinding. “Regular work with roughing wheels can lead to a greater vibration load, primarily on the hands and arms. Damage to nerves and long-term illnesses such as the HAVS (Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome) are often the consequence of this constant overload. To dampen vibrations directly at the grinding disc, a clamping flange – The RHODUCER – was developed that can reduce the vibration load during rough grinding through a polymer coating.”

Its wear-resistant, elastic coating means the RHODUCER can very effectively absorb the vibrations that occur at the disc. The vibration load on the handle is re duced by up to 30 %. Both factors can lead to a significant reduction of the vibration load and thus make for much more pleasant work and a noticeable physical relief of the affected parts of the body. The RHODUCER can be used with no problems on machines with a normal flange for all roughing wheels with a width of 4.5 mm and above.

Its patented, self-sharpening diamond-coating is what makes the LD100 MATRIX so special: the triangular structure of the oblique-set diamonds produces an air duct for the optimum removal of cut material. This prevents the premature splintering of single diamonds. Their homogeneous arrangement ensures a uniform performance – this prolongs the lifetime and increases the cutting power by up to 70 %. Users benefit from persistently high and powerfully fast cutting with the LD100 MATRIX to make work noticeably easier.

The ultimate high-power tool in the field of diamond discs with a closed turbo cut-ting edge: DG100 MATRIX. In standard diamond discs with a closed turbo cutting edge, the diamonds are arranged randomly and are partly concentrated in the segment. In the DG100 MATRIX the diamond grains are arranged and aligned separately in the segment. This means that each diamond grain is used optimally until it splinters. The structured arrangement creates air ducts for the unhindered removal of chips. This increases the performance by up to 70 % over conventional diamond cutting discs with a closed turbo cutting edge.

Excessively high temperatures during the cut-ting and grinding process can lead to a blueing of the workpiece. This is why very thin cutting discs are ideal for such work since they cut much cooler.

The XT8 EXACT, only 0.8 mm wide, in particu-lar is ideal for preparing the I-soldered seam during MIG welding thanks to its cool cut and the optimum solder gap width.

Aluminium dust is very fi ne and can accumulate on angle grinders and destroy these during grinding despite an extraction system. Portable air grinders are dust-insensitive. If you are cutting aluminium with an electric angle grinder you can halve the dust development with a thin aluminium-cutting disc. Clean the angle grinder after work with compressed air.

A good dust extraction system is a must in closed rooms since high concentrations of aluminium dust can lead to explosions.

When defi ning stone as a building material one initially differentiates between man-made types (e. g. concrete, bricks, tiles, etc.) and natural stone.

Example natural stone:

All stones that can be found in nature. Natural stone as a sawn or hewn product is called ashlar, undimensioned natural stone quarrystone. Natural stones can be divided up into hard and soft stone. This classifi cation helps when estimating the mechanical loads and determining the tool insert. Natural stones may have very different physical and chemical properties despite looking very similar to each other: granite and basalt are very hard. limestones and marble are not so resistant. One big advantage of natural stone compared to other materials is the much lower energy input needed to mine and process natural stones than other materials (e.g. ceramic tiles).

Example concrete:As a building material concrete can withstand high pressures but only a low tensile stress. Concrete is therefore normally made as reinforced concrete. The high-tensile reinforcing steel absorbs any tensile stresses. Reinforced concrete is deemed to be permanent since the reinforcement and the concrete have the same coeffi cients of thermal expansion.

There is however a trick to help you nevertheless achieve good results: silicon free cutting spray or grinding grease prevents the fast clogging of the flap discs. Mechanical oscillations (synonym: percussions, vibrations) are one of the physical environmental fac-tors to which people can be exposed at their place of work. Apart from whole-body vibrations (WBV) for users of earth-moving machinery or track vehicles, the hand-arm vibrations (HAV) for users of hand-held tools are particularly frequent. An estimated 4.4 million workers in Germany are exposed to hand-arm vibrations. Many years of exposure to intensive hand-arm vibrations can cause chronic damage to health, e. g. the so-called white fi nger illness, a damage to the nervous system through circulatory disturbances caused by vibrations.

The vibrations that occur depend to a large extent on the marginal conditions during processing:
