Szynalski In the years of early 1990s, internet is strange with lots of people, not only with the author Tomasz P.Szynalski. At that time, English sources for studying may be only written ones, even not many to choose. And of course, this factor affects to English learners' progress. Like the author of this article, I myself is also an example in that time (like all pupil in that age), even later. I started learning English in 1994, in that year, I came to a centre of English with only one course book: Headway (elementary), no dictionary, no tapes, nothing to be references. At high school, I and my classmates only had textbook (designed for pupil at school), nothing more. At that time, I was in a mountainous province, foreign language is one out of eleven subjects at school, nothing to buy, nothing to support my English study. 1999, I went to university to learn English as a major for my carier. Still, I (we) have not got internet, most the sources for study came from university, department and teachers. Some years later, I / we heard about internet. First for yahoo to send mails and to chat. Still did not know how to search for other things. How I learned English in the pre-Internet age

and why you can do it faster

by Tomasz P. Szynalski

In the years of early 1990s, internet is strange with lots of people, not only with the author Tomasz P.Szynalski. At that time, I was in a mountainous province, foreign language is one out of eleven subjects at school, nothing to buy, nothing to support my English study.1999, I went to university to learn English as a major for my carier. Still, I (we) have not got internet, most the sources for study came from university, department and teachers. Some years later, I / we heard about internet. First for yahoo to send mails and to chat. Still did not know how to search for other things. Then I got used to with the term "google", gradually, take use form this. …So, with what the author said in the article, I can share him, I even very understand this case. Because it is my case, even worse.

With "If I were learning English today". Things the author would do we can do now . I totally agree with his idea here. Thanks to help from the internet, Foreign language learners in particular may make progress more quickly than ever, and people in general for other fields. But you know, I and my classmates still get difficulties in technical skills, devices to do, network… No one in the class has a PC, some of us have laptops or electronic dictionaries, not many people use Ipod. Not every one are good at computer… These things still are obstacles for us in developing ourselves.

Clearly, internet is a colourful anf helpful source for every people in every field of life, especially, foreign language. And I know, I and my friends must do better to take the advantages from the internet. This subject - CALL will be a very useful way to help me reach to advantages which internet bring to faster and earlier. Thanks much to sites introduced here and in the lesson. I will try them all.
