Term 1 Week 7 12th March 2018

Dear Parents,

A great finish to our swimming

lessons last week, despite some

slight disruptions to the

schedule on Monday when an

electrical failure caused some

problems which effected the

pump. Thanks to some great

work from Chris Rose and CEO

Electrical , there were no

disruptions on Tuesday and we

were able to change plans and

re-organise for our final lesson

on Friday. Thanks to everyone

once again for their enthusiasm

and commitment throughout the

last six weeks.

It was great to see so many

parents, grandparents, friends

and carers who were able to

visit the pool and support their

students on both Tuesday and

again on Friday.

I’m sure everyone was

impressed with the wonderful

improvement the students have

made. It is very encouraging to

see such determination from our

emerging group of swimmers

who have tried their best

throughout the lessons. Well

done and congratulations

everyone.

Regional Swimming

Marco, Claudia, Kayla, Josie,

Lilah

We wish each of our

representatives who will be

attending the Regional

Swimming Carnival in Albury

on Wednesday this week, the

very best of luck. Lilah

Norden and Josie Warren will

compete in several individual

events, whilst our Senior Girls

Relay team – Lilah, Josie

Kayla Byrne and Claudia

Grant and our PP5 Relay team

– Lilah, Josie, Kayla and

Marco Grant will also be

competing and doing their best.

Could parents please ensure that

their children are at the pool in

plenty of time for their events –

marshalling will take place

approximately 20 minutes

before their events. A reminder

for those who haven’t attended

previously that parking will be

at a premium, so allow extra

time to find a spot.

Training and Development

Last week Mrs Jackson and I

travelled to Dubbo for two days

training in MiniLit – a literacy

program supporting students

who find the acquisition of

literacy skills difficult. The

training was very worthwhile

and we are keen to begin

implementing the program next

term. To compliment this

training, Mrs Matthews and I

will spend two days in Canberra

this week attending MacqLit

training to support older

students.

Kelly will be attending Sue

Larkey training on Autism

Spectrum Disorders in Wagga

on Friday, whilst Mrs Jackson

will be attending the Learning

and Support Teacher and NDIS

meeting in Cootamundra on

Thursday. Mrs Hillier will be

away on leave again this week,

with Mrs Jackson teaching the

K – 2 class and Mrs Adams will

come in on Thursday.

Easter egg Raffle

The P & C have once again

decided to hold a fund raising

Easter egg raffle. They would

like each child to donate an

Easter egg towards the raffle

please. Last year’s raffle was a

great success with eight or more

winners at the end of the day.

The Easter raffle will co-inside

with the students’ Easter Hat

Parade (Thursday 29th March)

and Easter egg hunt.

Nangus Sports Camp

Thank you to those

parents/carers who have already

returned their permission notes

and money for the overnight

camp.

We have had some inquiry from

parents of younger students

who are not sure that the

children will be able to stay

happily overnight.

For those parents, the following

information has been provided

by Mrs Annetts. For those

students who need to go home

overnight, the cost will still be

$25.00 and for those who are

only able to attend for 1 day, it

will be $13.00. The school is

covering the cost of the bus on

Thursday morning and Friday

afternoon. Parents will be

responsible for collecting their

children on Thursday

afternoon – 4.00pm and

returning them to Nangus the

following day - 9.00am.

Please return your permission

notes and money this week for

catering purposes, so we can

advise Nangus of our

numbers. Thankyou

HOCKEY

Tumut Hockey Club is running

a "Come and Try" muster day

this Saturday, 17th March, from

New and old players are very

welcome - young and old too!

Hockey is played in Tumut each

week, with no need to drive all

over the Riverina. All age

groups are catered for, from

Hook in2 Hockey (preschool

age), under 8s, under 11s, B

grade (high school), and A

grade.

If anyone needs more

information, please visit Tumut

Hockey Club on Facebook, or

call Lauren Gailey
