VISUAL & PHYSICAL CONNECTIVITY

• The site is visible from the far place it has visual connectivity form the all the side.

• Around the private area greenery is provided as barrier between private or public area to maintain the privacy.

It has two entrance for public & staff. Staff area is centrally located to avoid the

disturbance. Staff & public movement has been separated by means of pedestal movement.

South side is the hotter than the north side due the movement of the sun. North side is the cool but it is island resort there for it has sun shine during dry climate 8

hours. And it has maximum flow of the wind such as 8 month in SW/NE direction and in winter it

flow in SE/NW direction.

Design point of view it very good that restaurant has been designed close to the kitchen that gives easy access to serve the customer.

Having view of sea, amphitheater and diving school directly. It has capacity of 80 customer at a time. It has been designed completely Maldives villages style with thatch roof. The kitchen has all the arrangement is systemically.

DETAIL OF CONSTRUCTION• It is rcc framed structure which is constructed in

Maldives traditional.• It has sloping roof, on that has applied thatch to

give traditional look of Maldives.• As a form of landscape & pedestal movement

paving block used.

SYNOPSIS OF SITE The site have two side entry north for staff/services

& east for guest entry. It has several uniqueness in the resort to attract the

tourist such as long path way which lead to theresort and water bungalows and all.

it has all the facilities to give the relaxations insense of services.

PLANNING ASPECT It has linear types of planning. Linear form of planning is batter to occupy the site

area. This types of form does not keep negative space. Huge glass windows has been provided to give

complete view of the nature. Balcony has been provided to enjoy the every

moment of the resort.

AESTHETICS APPEARANCE

The design concept was conceived as a rural Maldivianvillage which is giving the traditional look and have superiorin design.

Aesthetically it has good appearance. As per the context of Maldives the building has been

painted a special dark green to visually reduce the scale andblend.

All the building having huge glass window and thatch roofwhich resist the heat.

DESIGN ANALYSIS

the resort is constructed in completely Maldives traditional style. All the building having pitched roof and thatch has been applied to give Maldives

village looks. It has all the facilities to spend their leisure time. Each room having view of the sea. Staff area has been located centrally to avoid the public movements.

MALDIVIAN HISTORY• History suggests that the Maldives Islands have been inhabited for more than 3,000 years, perhaps first settled by

travellers on the ancient Silk Route from the Indus Valley civilization. EVENTS & FESTIVALS• The Maldives follows the Muslim calendar and the most important festival is Ramadan which is strictly adhered to in the

Maldives. There are also a number of national days in the calendar but these do not usually affect the resorts.• Male

Interesting places to visit includes the fish market and the local market at the northern waterfront. Watch ‘dhonis’ unload dried fish, fresh fruits and vegetables from the atolls. The new harbour is located in the south-west corner of Male.

Friday Mosque• Built in the 17C, the Huskuru Miskiiy or Friday Mosque served the population of Malé as their main mosque for almost

four centuries, until the Islamic Centre and Grand Friday Mosque took over the function in 1984. Built by Sultan Ibrahim Iskandhar in 1656, the mosque is a masterpiece of coral curving and traditional workmanship.

The Islamic Centre• As you approach Malé, you will see one of its famous architectural landmarks - the Islamic Centre with its golden dome. Music & Dance• Bodu Beru is the most popular form of music and dance in the country with a Bodu Beru troupe in almost every

inhabited island and is regularly played at functions and festivals.

MALDIVES ATTRACTIONS

Male contains many prominent mosques andnoteworthy museums, with the latter includingsome art facts obtained by Thor Heyerdahl whenhe visited the islands.The national museum in male is of particular merit,and it is situated on sultan’s park. An attraction initself.The grand Friday mosque is the most significantplace of worship in the Maldives.Many other mosques, churches and temples ofhistoric value are to be found in the Maldives.The esjehi Art Gallery is a storehouse of artistictreasures that is located within the most imposingand venerable buildings.Here the visitor will find diverse historical andcultural treasures making a visit and enthrallingexperience.For a true taste of the local cultural experience,make it a point to visit the Maldives fish market,which in addition to fish offers fresh vegetables,fruits and other produce.The market is an ideal location to observe thefishing activities of the islands, one of its mainstaysbefore the development of tourism.

Owing to great distance the island had to be totallyself sufficient in basic amenities such as water,power, recreational and storage facilities.The arrival pavilion placed on a reef enables theguests to view the village from a distance.A long boarded walkway leads to the receptionpavilion with the diving station and accommodationfor diving staff on the immediate right in the sea,that’s very nice.The exterior of the public and residential buildingsare painted a special dark green color to visuallyreduce the scale and blend it with the vegetation.The village square serves as the forecourt for thedining, kitchen and store complex, recreation,Shopping and animation areas.Four roomed blocks, each with a separate access andvisually concealed.The staff accommodation, power generation anddesalinization plant, staff facilities ad recreationalareas are located in the central part of the island sothat the central part can be used as multifunctionalarea.

MERITS It is designed in such a way

that each & every room havingdirect view of the sea.

The private area has beencentrally located to avoid theun necessary disturbance.

The reception area & otheractivities are camouflaged asthe landscape has beeneffectively used to hide thebuilding by liming the scaleand using the existing & newlyplanted vegetation as a buffer.

Public space has been utilizedeastern part of resort which is

brilliantly having reception,restaurant, amphitheater,shops, cocktail bar etc.
