RESEARCHING STUDENT WORK

-The genre of this magazine is indie/rock.-A tri-colour colour scheme has been used (red, black and white) and a variety of fonts have been used to make the magazine look more indie/rock. The layout is relatively simple and slightly random which goes with the indie theme- There has been about 8 different fonts used to create an indie look- the main image used has been taken in a studio as well as one of the small images, the rest of the pictures have been taken at festivals or outside. A variety of music venues could have been used for more pictures, but the studio images look smart and clean- the images of individual people are medium close-ups allowing you to see their outfits and facial expressions, whereas the pictures from concerts/festivals are long shots because they were taken from wherever the person was standing and the long shot allows you to see the atmosphere of the concert

- The genre of this magazine is rock which is apparent from then main image and text fonts that have been used- The layout is very simple, but very effective as it goes with the theme. The colour scheme consists of, yellow, black and white which goes with the rock theme as those colours are associated with rock music. Many fonts have been used which are rock related so they go with the theme- The main images on the cover page, contents page and the double page spread have been taken in a studio so they are framed. They are both medium close ups allowing the reader to see his attire and facial expressions. The other images on the contents page are taken outside or at an actual music venue so they haven’t been posed for and allow the reader to see the atmosphere at the concert.

MY REFLECTION:this task has taught me that I need to consider many things before producing my product, from the font size and colour to where I take my pictures. However, I think it has been helpful because it has allowed me to see all the aspects of making the magazine so I will know all the things I need to plan. Looking at other people’s work has made me think of things that I want to put in my magazine that haven’t featured in any I’ve seen, so this task has given me inspiration.
