    FootnotesFootnotes are used to give credit to sources of any

    material borrowed, summarized or paraphrased. Theyare intended to refer readers to the exact pages of the

    works listed in the Bibliography section.If you are using a word processor, you can access the

    superscript function. To type a Footnote citation, thesame superscript number 1 is put at the beginning of

    the Footnote at the bottom of the same page where thecitation occurs.

    When mentioning a work for the first time, a fulland complete Footnote entry must be made.

    standard abbreviation which is used in footnotes. Useit only when the footnote refers to exactly the same

    Use of op. cit. Another standard abbreviation which can be used is op.cit.

    (from Latin opere citato)This can be used when referring toa work which has already been cited in the footnotes but

    which does not appear immediately before the footnoteconcerned. If the author has more than one book cited inthe research paper, the authors name must be followed bythe title of the book being cited as illustrated in footnote

    Bibliography

    A bibliography is a list of citations ofsources used to write a paper. A writer

    should include sources from which directquotes were extracted to support the writersown ideas, paraphrased ideas from other

    sources, and sources the writer consulted togain a general understanding of the researchtopic.

    Additional formatting guidelines the bibliography

    Author: Last name first, followed by acomma. With regards to initials and full

    name usage, the authors name shouldappear as it does on the title page of thework being cited. For example, if the

    authors name appears on the title page asAnthony T. Boyle, Ph.D., it should appearas Boyle, Anthony T. in the bibliography.

    Punctuation: Commas appear

    after the author, title, place ofpublication, and the publisher.Each entry ends with a full stop.
