BREAKING NEWS!!!REDS BUZZ ISLAND WITH BOMBERS!

TANG, NORAD SCRAMBLE JETS AS RED BOMBERS CLAIM THEY WERE LOST!

Story By Justin Ink: Trainworld City: Trainworldian and United States Air Force fighter jets were scrambled yesterday as two Soviet bombers breached Trainworldian airspace and were approaching the Island, after having already violated Canadian airspace. At 3:44pm CST a Trainworld radar station picked up two unidentified radar targets 270 miles northwest of the Island over Lake Superior and steadily approaching. 2 P-80 Shooting Star fighter jets of the Trainworld Air National Guard (TANG) were scrambled from the 2cnd Fighter Interceptor Legion at Sloan Air Guard Base in Fitzgerald to intercept and identify the intruders. Shortly thereafter, North American Air Defense (NORAD) scrambled 2 P-80’s of the United States Air Force from Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan with the same mission. Before visual interception occurred, the TANG P-80s’ radar positively identified the targets as Soviet Tupolev TU-4 ‘Bull” Bombers. Numerous previous attempts to communicate via radio to the bombers failed as they gave no response, but eventually a linguist with the USAF was able to communicate via translation and talked the Soviets into landing. The TANG aircraft were called off after the USAF fighters got into visual range and they escorted the bombers to a landing in Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada.

Preliminary investigations said that the Soviet bombers didn’t have the correct maps when they got into the air, and became lost shortly after the Soviet exercises began. The bomber crew claimed they were on a two ship training mission over the Arctic Circle near the Canadian/Alaskan border. They said they had no idea they had ventured this far into North American airspace.

The USAF P-80’s escorted the bombers after visual identification into Canadian airspace where they landed at Winnipeg and impounded the aircrew and aircraft. All USAF and TANG aircrew and aircraft returned safely from this incident and it remains under investigation by the Canadian, United States and Trainworldian governments.

The Triton, Oracle of Foreign Affairs, and the Primus of the Republic of Trainworld are investigating this incident in cooperation with the governments of Canada and the United States of America. The Soviet Union has yet to comment on this matter, but the Soviet Ambassador to the United States, Georgy Zarubin, has said that he will meet with all three governments as soon as possible. The Trainworld Tribune will update you as this story unfolds further.

SPRING CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS ARE ABOUND IN TRAINWORLD CITY

NUMEROUS CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS DOT THE CITY, TWO MAJOR BUSINESSES MOVE TO MAKE WAY FOR NEW CEMENT PLANT

Story by Dustin Ink: TRAINWORLD CITY: McQuiston Power Station and Vokovan Sausage Company have both agreed to move to other locations as part of a relocation program to make way for the new Trainworld Universal Cement Company plant. The new plant will take up most of the space that occupied the former McQuiston Power Station, which will still occupy part of the property. Vokovan Sausage Company has already successfully moved across Tesla Ave to Railton Yard. While there are many construction projects across Trainworld City which have commenced, are in progress or have already been completed, this has been among the biggest. Contractors from the Spencer Maida Construction Company have been busy around the clock jacking up existing buildings and moving them to new locations, dynamiting old ones and building complete new ones.

The Vokovan Sausage Company has already moved, circled in red from its previous location across the street. McQuiston Power Station, with its structures shown in the yellow box, will soon move to the area near the blue circle. The new cement plant of the Trainworld

Universal Cement Company is being built in in the area of the yellow square.

The new plant of the Trainworld Universal Cement Company, which is a subsidiary of the steel giant United States of Trainworld Steel Corporation, has already begun construction. When completed, it’s expected to produce over 1 million barrels of cement a year. The buildings of McQuiston Power Station will become part of the property, moving only a short distance. The cement plant will use slag from the nearby Trainworld City Steel Works as its base product and the power for its production will come from McQuiston Station. With another blast furnace in the process of constructing at the steel mill, the new cement plant will have an ample supply of slag for its products.

McQuiston Power Station will be expanded in this relocation to include facilities for converting garbage as a fuel source to produce power. This process will help reduce the amount of landfills needed on the Island and finds a use for additional power generation. The station, owned by the Mehina Coal and Chemical Company, will also add on to its water treatment plant and coal by product facilities. MCC has also looked at plans to possibly add coke ovens to produce more power. As of current, McQuiston Station is the second largest end user of coal in the city – next to the consumption of the Trainworld City Steel Works. With the city growing, that consumption figure is expected to increase and MCC is looking at additonal means for energy production at the facility.

“We are trying to explore other means of energy production rather than simply burn coal. We feel that by burning garbage we can kill two birds with one stone. We reduce the amount of garbage going to landfills and we increase the amount of power produced from this plant,” said Carmen D. Hoxyde, CEO of Mehina Coal and Chemical Company.

The Vokovan Sausage Company has already moved across the street from its former location in this multi deal blockbuster. It now sits at the corner of Tesla Avenue and Frostbite Boulevard just inside Railton Yard. Owner Rudolph Vokovan said that “the deal was simply to good to pass up” (referring to the land buyout Trainworld Universal Cement offered to the Vokovan Sausage Company). Although pleased with the payout and the devoted rail line to his facility, Vokovan said that he was looking at expanding his facility as demand for their products have been increasing. That demand may force him to move….again. “We have seen a steady increase in the demand for our products. We have added a thrid shift here at the plant and while it’s meeting capacity at the moment, additional increases in demand will mean that we will have to move in order to expand to meet that demand.” So while it appears that Vokovan Sausage Company is enjoying success, its factory may be forced to move in the future.

The other major construction project that everyone has been talking about is the Tesla Ave/Raleigh Street Expansion project. This project was to finish building additional businesses along those two commercial district streets. With the additions, Trainworld City has seen an increase in it’s commercial business traffic. Originally

contained mostly to Main Street, shoppers and merchants are now spread out over three streets to include Main Street, Raleigh Street and North Tesla Avenue. And its not just limited to commercial shopping properties. The new Trainworld City branch of Hamms Brewing Company has set up shop at the end of North Tesla Avenue. Vokovan Sausage Company has moved across the street from its former location and now sits on the corner of Tesla Ave and Frostbite Blvd. The still under construction Chromaline Building is nearing completion at the north end of Main Street. 3 churches also exist in one block – the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church on Raleigh Street and the Good Shepard Catholic Church and 12 Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Churches on North Tesla Avenue.

New commercial businesses include the South Pole Tavern, Markle Hardware and Sales, Bundy’s Shoes, Lodge 1 of Fraternal Order of No Ma’am, Griswold Travel Agency, Vesuvios Fine Dining, the Steel Plant News printing office and the Durht-Knapp Funeral Home. The Island News and Confectionary building and the Spencer Maida Construction Company/Stenson Logistics Building are two buildings that have moved from their former locations – with the Island News building being moved from all the way downtown.

DOWNTOWN. The downtown business district has also seen some transformation as several new skyscrapers have been added. Headquarters for the Chippewa Star Transportation Company, Adama Aviation Industries, Floored Motor Company and Mallett Minerals and Mining Company have all been added. The Daystrom Institute has also taken up residence at the North End of Aldrin Avenue. These businesses have all added to the presence of the “big town” feel of the downtown business district. In addition, Trainworld Television and TWRS have added several new and more powerful transmitters at top of their building to boost their signal strength and reach more customers. “The addition of these new buildings and the business and commercial prosperity they bring, make Trainworld City a true mini metropolis among the cities in the North American hemisphere. Here, you can have big city life and small town feel all within a few short blocks. It’s a unique experience that can only be found in Trainworld City….and it’s only going to continue to get better. We see bigger and better things in store for the future of this city,” said Trainworld City Mayor, Stephan Helkanen.

TRAINWORLD EXPEDITIONARY GROUP RETURNS FROM KOREAN CONFLICT

THE GROUP DEPLOYED A YEAR IN SUPPORT OF THE UNITED NATIONS RESOLUTION IN KOREA

STORY BY THE ASSOCIATED PRESS: FORT TERMINUS The Trainworld Expeditionary Support Group has returned from its one year deployment in support of the United Nations action in Korea, a spokesman for the Triton says. The Group deployed in March of 1952 to support the United Nation’s resolution in protecting the South Korean people on that troubled peninsula. Elements of the 3rd Fighter Interceptor Legion, based in Trainville, and the 5th Bomb Legion and 7th Air Transport Legion based in Junction City, made up the deployed Trainworld Air National Guard (TANG) air components of the package while the naval components were made up of the battleship R.T.S. (Republic of Trainword Ship) Poseidon, carrier Neptune and 4 smaller destroyer vessels. No troops of the Trainworldian National Guard were deployed. Under the command of Fleet Prefect Gene White the group performed admirably, with the air assets stationed at Osan Air Base 40 miles south of Seoul. The naval ships were stationed in the Yellow Sea.

Fleet Prefect White said that while there were no fatalities during the deployment, the TANG lost 2 F-51 Mustang fighters due to mishap and 1 B-25 Mitchell bomber due to enemy fire following a mission when it crashed short of Osan Air Base. The RTS Neptune also lost 2 F9F Panther fighter carrier aircraft to enemy fire but both pilots survived and were rescued.

The Praefectus, Benjamin A. Fearless, said that “the world has called on these chosen few to protect those who could not fend for themselves and they did so without hesitation. The experience and knowledge gained in the performance of their duties will benefit the Republic’s

forces and the knowledge of helping the South Korean people will always be held as a noble and honored notion that will never pale in the eyes of this Republic.”

Members of the group will all receive the United Nations Korean Service medal as well as the Republic of Trainworld Expeditionary Service Medal.

The purpose of the mission, the Praefectus stated, was to assist in support roles to primary Allied forces, however the Group did engage in limited combat with North Korean forces on several occasions.

First Air Centurion Steven Bryan shot down two North Korean Yakovlev Yak-9 fighter aircraft on July 8th, 1952 when returning to Osan Air Base while in his P-80 Shooting Star fighter. Bryan was not injured in the incident. For his efforts, Bryan will be awarded the Medal of Mars at a ceremony later next month.
