Observations on Reading► In 2009, the number of Trenton students proficient in Reading is
slightly higher (1 to 7 percentage points) as compared to the State in all grades except grade 6 (2 percentage points lower)
► Significantly exceed AYP Reading Target in all grades (17 to 23 percentage points)
► Since 2005 baseline, Trenton’s Reading trend data has remained relatively flat in all grades except grade 8 (7 percentage point increase)
► The difference has narrowed in the number of students proficient in Reading when comparing Trenton’s trend data with the State’s trend data
► The percentage of Students Without Disabilities proficient in Reading continues to be significantly higher than Students With Disabilities
► Trenton’s ranking in Wayne County has fluctuated year to year and grade to grade

Observations on Mathematics► In 2009, the number of Trenton students proficient in Mathematics is
slightly higher (1 to 10 percentage points) as compared to the State in all grades except grade 6 (3 percentage points lower)
► Significantly exceed AYP Mathematics Target in all grades (19 to 35 percentage points)
► Since 2005 baseline, Trenton’s trend data has trended upward particularly in grades 7 and 8
► Trenton ‘s percentage proficient has improved at a steadier rate in grades 5, 7, and 8 as compared to the State. The difference in the percentage proficient has narrowed in grades 3, 4, and 6.
► The percentage of Students Without Disabilities proficient in Mathematics continues to be significantly higher than Students With Disabilities, although the gap has decreased in grades 6-8
► Trenton’s ranking in Wayne County has fluctuated year to year and grade to grade

► Since 2005 baseline, Trenton’s trend data has trended slightly downward in 5th grade and slightly upward in 8th grade
► The difference in percentage proficient for Trenton as compared to the State has narrowed in 5th grade while staying fairly consistent in 8th grade
► The percentage of Students Without Disabilities proficient in Science continues to be significantly higher than Students With Disabilities
► Except for 2008, Trenton’s ranking in Wayne County has remained in the top eight for both 5th and 8th grade
Observations on Social Studies► In 2009, the number of Trenton students proficient in Social Studies
is higher (7 to 8 percentage points) as compared to the State in both 5th and 8th grade
► Since 2005 baseline, Trenton’s trend data has trended moderately downward in 6th grade and slightly upward in 9th grade
► Overall, the difference in percentage proficient for Trenton as compared to the State has remained fairly consistent in both 6th and 9th grade,
► The percentage of Students Without Disabilities proficient in Science continues to be significantly higher than Students With Disabilities
► Except for 6th grade in 2006, Trenton’s ranking in Wayne County has remained in the top nine for both 6th and 9th grade
