A revolutionary change has taken place in the field of Fluid Power Technology due to the integration of
electronics as a control medium for hydraulic components and systems. Due to sophistication of
hydraulics and allied fields of power and higher accuracy in speed, force and position control. Efforts
have been made to include the latest possible trends in the field of hydraulics and allied control areas to
keep the ever changing state of the technology in hydraulics.
ow a day more stress is given to !"#"$%, &'(F'$T and )AFET% as much as possible with money
and TE&*'!'+% available with the mankind. n that way to help those who are physically challenged
this pro-ect is been made. That is a case of lifting a -ack to an automobile, is troublesome to physically
challenged human being. And we are using oil, hence the -ack as a means of power transmissions.
*ydraulic systems are now etensively used in almost all the engineering fields in varied applications. )o
we tried to grab the opportunity.
Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed but it can be transformed from one form to another. The
energy associated with human beings will decrease as he becomes older resulting unable to challenge
physically. To overcome we have provided alternate source of energy by taking the power from wiper
motor to drive the hydraulic -ack loading subse/uently and automatically, which substantially reduce theburden.
'ur pro-ect works on the mechanism of converting rotary motion of the wiper0stepper motor into
reciprocating motion of the hydraulic -ack plunger. A cylinder cage structure of wiper0stepper motor
ensures maimum power delivered by consuming the available battery power which can be easily

generated. mportant thing is that the power is available at any instant and anyone can withdraw easily,
without any ha1ard.
$eali1ing that the engineers are more concerned with the applications than with theory, we have woven
the sub-ect2matter with this practical application in engineering and achieved the ob-ective. Addition of
number of figures, tables and eamples is in proportionate to the addition of written word because they
offer better visual appreciation and mental grasp.

A hydraulic -ack consists of a cylinder and piston mechanism. The movement of the piston rod is used to
raise or lower the load.(echanical -acks can be either hand operated or power driven.*ydraulic -acks are typically used for shop work, rather than as an emergency -ack to be carried withthe vehicle. "se of -acks not designed for a specific vehicle re/uires more than the usual care in
selecting ground conditions, the -acking point on the vehicle, and to ensure stability when the -ack isetended. *ydraulic -acks are often used to lift elevators in low and medium rise buildings.
3ottle or hand -acks, came into wide spread popularity during the early part of the 45th &entury,
paralleling the boom of the automobile industry. They filled the immediate need of a small convenient
device re/uiring only one person to operate that could lift an automobile off the ground for servicing 2
/uickly found hundreds of other uses in the modern world, as well.
2. HYDRAULIC JACK
*ydraulic -acks transmit a small mechanical force through one small hydraulic cylinder to a
large hydraulic cylinder. This results in a large mechanical force eerted by the larger cylinder
6due to Pascal7s principle which states that the pressure in a closed system is the same
everywhere8.
This model uses a hand pump to power the smaller hydraulic cylinder. A circular pipe transmits the
hydraulic li/uid from the smaller cylinder to the larger cylinder, with a check valve to prevent backflow.
The larger cylinder lifts a load. The mass of the load can be changed to investigate the pressures generated
in the hydraulic system.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES
3ottle0hand -acks have the general appearance of an old 9 /uart milk bottle and range in weight from a
few pounds for the smallest 9 904 ton models to more than 455 pounds for a 955 ton -ack. Average heights
range from about seven inches to 95 inches with a stroke 6pushing range8 of about five to si inches.
(any -acks in the 9 904 to 94 ton capacity group offer a convenient etension screw giving an etra :
inches of utility. Aside from the standard si1es, a few brands offer ;stubby; -acks that start as low as

inches. 'ne brand sells a ;telescoping; -ack that ranges from a low height of about = inches and etends to
a height of more than 95 inches.
n addition, 9 904, :, >, 94 and even 45 ton capacity -acks are available in heights from 45 to 4? inches,
popular in engine cherry picker0cranes and for special applications@ however, the >, 94 and 45 ton
versions are /uite epensive.
STANDARD CAPACITIES
The standard American lifting capacities start at 9 904 ton and run : ton, = ton, > ton, 94 ton, 45 ton, :5ton, =5 ton and 955 ton.
USES
n the automotive world the 9 904 through = ton -acks are popular for cars and light trucks, the > and 94
ton models for $ecreational ehicles and medium to heavy duty trucks while the 45 ton bottle -acks are
used primarily for ;big rig; tractor trailers.
3ottle -acks and variations thereof appear in fields as diverse as medicine 6for patient lifts, eamine
tables, hydraulic stretchers8, plumbing 6pipe benders8, electrical 6cable slicers8, printing 6paper cutters8
warehousing 6material handling8, agriculture 6e/uipment maintenance8, construction 6pushing, pulling,
hoisting or lifting8, food industry 6from pallet -acks to pressing apple -uice or sausages8 metal shops
6bending, cutting and fabricating8 and in do1ens of applications too numerous to mention.
Backs, while traditionally used in an upright fashion with the ground as a base to lift a great weight in the
air, are /uite often mounted inside a framework to do a specific -ob such as compressing, as in a hydraulic
press, or mounted on a vertical beam to push against a hori1ontal beam making a crane. An often
overlooked characteristic of bottle -acks is that they can be turned sideways in order to push ob-ects apart
such as fence posts or a door frame warp by weather.

hen a motor is in operation, it develops tor/ue. This tor/ue can produce mechanical rotation.motors are also like generators classified into shunt wound or series wound or compound wound motors.

An electric motor is all about magnets and magnetismH a motor uses magnets to create motion.
'pposites attract and likes repel. )o if there are 4 bar magnets with their ends marked north and
south, then the orth end of one magnet will attract the )outh end of the other. 'n the other
hand, the orth end of one magnet will repel the orth end of the other 6and similarly south will
repel south8. nside an electric motor these attracting and repelling forces create rotational
motion. n the diagram above, you can see two magnets in the motor, the armature 6or rotor8 is
an electromagnet, while the field magnet is a permanent magnet 6the field magnet could be an
electromagnet as well, but in most small motors it is not to save power8.

The worm gear reduction can multiply the tor/ue of the motor by about =5 times, while slowing the
output of the electric motor by =5 times as well. The output of the gear reduction operates a linkage that
moves the hydraulic -ack plunger back and forth.
A short linkage of the stepper motor, the coming out power is utili1ed to actuate the -ack plunger.

A remote control is a component of an electronicsdevice, most commonly a television set, used for
operating the device wirelesslyfrom a short line2of2sightdistance. The remote control can be contracted
to remote or controller. $emote controls devices are usually small wireless handheld ob-ects with an array
of buttons for ad-usting various settings such as television channel, track number, andvolume.n fact, forthe ma-ority of modern devices with this kind of control, the remote contains all the function controls
while the controlled device itself only has a handful of essential primary controls. (ost of these remotes
communicate to their respective devices via infrared6$8 signals.

The infrared diode modulates at a speed corresponding to a particular function. hen seen through a
digital camera, the diode appears to illuminate purple light.

(ost remote controls for electronic appliances use a near infrared diode to emit a beam of light that
reaches the device. A I?5 nmwavelength !ED is typical. This infrared light is invisible to the human eye,
but picked up by sensors on the receiving device. ideo cameras see the diode as if it produces visible
purple light.
ith a single channel 6single2function, one2button8 remote control the presence of a carrier signal can be
used to trigger a function. For multi2channel 6normal multi2function8 remote controls more sophisticated
procedures are necessaryH one consists of modulating the carrier with signals of different fre/uency. After
the demodulation of the received signal, the appropriate fre/uency filters are applied to separate the
respective signals. owadays digital procedures are more commonly used. 'ne can often hear the signals
being modulated on the infrared carrier by operating a remote control in very close proimity to an A(
radionot tuned to a station.

nfra2$ed actually is normal light with a particular colour. e humans can;t see this colour because its
wave length of I=5nm is below the visible spectrum. That;s one of the reasons why $ is chosen for
remote control purposes, we want to use it but we;re not interested in seeing it. Another reason is because
$ !EDs are /uite easy to make, and therefore can be very cheap.
Although we humans can;t see the nfra2$ed light emitted from a remote control doesn;t mean we can;t
make it visible.
A video camera or digital photo camera can KseeK the nfra2$ed light as you can see in this picture. f you
own a web cam you;re in luck, point your remote to it,
press any button and you;ll see the !ED flicker.
"nfortunately for us there are many more sources of
nfra2$ed light. The sun is the brightest source of all,
but there are many others, likeH light bulbs, candles,
central heating system, and even our body radiate
nfra2$ed light. n fact everything that radiates heatalso radiates nfra2$ed light.
Therefore we have to take some precautions to guarantee that our $ message gets across to the receiver
without errors.

Place the pro-ect model under the chassis at the pre2specified -acking points. s then connected to the
power source i.e. battery. The whole assembly is operated by a remote device.
The standard voltage re/uirement for the wiper motor is 94 volts D& and is supplied to the wiper motor,
by means of a battery available in the automobile. )ince the motor will only use what it needs, so no need
to bother of battery getting weaker with this operation.
"pon pressing the remote button, the current passing through the wiper motor resulting in the rotation of
output linkage
A neat linkage converts the rotational output of the motor into the back and forth motion of the wipers and
hence the hydraulic -ack plunger is moved up and down where the pumping unit is a single plunger type.
The force acting on the plunger causes a circular pipe to transmit the hydraulic li/uid from the smaller
cylinder to the larger cylinder, with a check valve to prevent backflow. The larger cylinder lifts a load.
The load is indicated on piston of hydraulic -ack with rise in its mean level.
After attaining a re/uired lift, using remote further lifting can be stopped and the tyre changing or anyother operation can be carried out. 'nce the work is over, by remote controller the -ack can be lowered by
pressure release valve.
A pressure release valve is provided on the pumping unit. hich is automatically operated by a the
central lock actuator.

Backs are the ideal product to push, pull, lift, lower and position loads of anything from acouple of kilograms to hundreds of tonnes. The need has long eisted for an improved portable
-ack for automotive vehicles. t is highly desirable that a -ack become available that can be
operated alternatively from inside the vehicle or from a location of safety off the road on which
the vehicle is located. )uch a -ack should desirably be light enough and be compact enough so
that it can be stored in an automobile trunk, can be lifted up and carried by most adults to its
position of use, and yet be capable of lifting a wheel of a ?2= ton vehicle off the ground. Further,
it should be stable and easily controllable by a switch so that -acking can be done from a position
of safety. t should be easily movable either to a position underneath the ale of the vehicle or
some other reinforced support surface designed to be engaged by a -ack. Thus, the product has
been developed considering all the above re/uirements. This particular design of the motori1ed-ack will prove to be beneficial in lifting and lowering of loads.
3eing the motive of this ob-ect to prepare a pro-ect model which is light weight approimate6< kg8 and
compact in nature to serve the people of elder civilian, moreover the physically challenged persons.
