Regional Manufacturing Website Envisioning Presented by: Jeanne Kitchens, Associate Director SIU Center for Workforce Development Sponsored by: Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity March 2013

Background The Manufacturers Education Initiative is undergoing implementation across Illinois to grow a pipeline of skilled workers for manufacturing careers. To help with achieving effective outreach, the Manufacturing Innovation Initiative will provide several regions with a new website to align employers with education and training, outreach, and recruitment. Your input to developing the website is essential to ensure the site’s design meets your needs.

Background

SIU CWD is developing a Regional Manufacturing website as a prototype for several regions in Illinois.

Regions will include coordinating and posting content with Workforce Innovation Fund proposals.

An Envisioning Session was held with the Specialized Manufacturing Group in Central Illinois with a variety of stakeholders ranging from employers, to job seekers, to K-12 and postsecondary education.

Background

An Envisioning Session was already held to identify the primary purpose, audience, functionality, and needs necessary to design a website. It is not a final design but the preliminary concept.

The complete Envisioning Summary Report is available http://www.illinoisworknet.com/regionalmanufacturing http://www.ilpathways.com/manufacturingplanning

The site will integrate with the Illinois Shared Learning Environment, Illinois Pathways, and Illinois workNet.
