(PRIMARY)

Reel Access was established in 2006 and our vision is to raise aspirations through sound and vision. We deliver film and visual media workshops and projects with a range of age groups as well as delivering training, creative evaluation and socially responsible documentary making. Our work has been credited with increasing confidence, self-esteem and learning and we have grown year on year working with a huge range of diverse organisations across Birmingham, the West Midlands and nationally including; Acorns Children’s Hospice / Birmingham Hippodrome / The Birmingham Rep / Birmingham City Council / BMAG History Gallery / The Barber Institute / East Education Action Zone / Geese Theatre Company / Heritage Lottery Fund / mac Birmingham / Malvern Theatre / RSC / SIFA Fireside / Springfield Children’s Centre / The Public / Welsh National Opera as well as schools and youth centres.

WHO WE ARE:The Reel Access team collectively has over 20 years of community & participatory arts experience focusing on filmmaking and drama activities within a range of formal and informal education and other diverse community settings. We have worked with all ages from under 5s through to adults. All our workshops focus on facilitating participants experience so that their creative ideas are genuinely expressed. Reel Access believes passionately in enabling people to tell their stories, voice their opinions and get a message across.

Reel Access has several years of experience of working in Primary schools through the Creative Partnerships Programme, Education Action Zones and on an ad-hoc basis. We are now offering a new and exciting creative PPA cover option for Primary schools. We create fantastic film and animation projects that support and underpin the school curriculum as film is a useful tool to motivate and engage children in the classroom and contextualize difficult topics and curriculum areas. For example; Reel Access practitioners worked on a Year 3 science project at Four Dwellings Primary School; exploring Light and Dark. We produced a shadow puppet film in which the children wrote the story, made the puppets and shot and edited the film.

We also delivered a Horrible Histories style project at the Oval Primary School with Year 6 pupils entitled Tudenders! Exploring some of the key facts that make up that period of history.

We are adaptable to the needs of each school and our professional and supportive staff can add the extra something that will bring a project or a scheme of work to life.
