Telepresence Courses

This is a course that is taught by an instructor over a Telepresence system. It is an interactive, live class that students must attend on campus at the scheduled time. In a Telepresence classroom, students will engage in discussion, group work, class work, and tests just as they would in a regular classroom. Student should have computer experience and be comfortable with technology. Outside assignments requiring technology can be met at school, at public libraries, or at home.

And how to help your student along

the way…

Redlands East Valley High School

Page 13: Redlands East Valley High School

High school students have homework every night.

Daily exposure is essential - study, read and/or review notes every night.

Even though something may not be due the next day, most classes have ongoing work that translates into culminating projects. There are more long term projects.

Page 14: Redlands East Valley High School

Be involved in your child’s education, even if he/she doesn’t want your help.

STUDENTS SHOULD….. Ask questions when they don’t

understand! Use Intervention time (every period on

block days) for extra help, make-ups, review…

Many teachers are available at lunch, before or after school for additional help.

Page 15: Redlands East Valley High School

Encourage your student to listen to the daily bulletin for ways to become involved in school. Sports, clubs, arts….

For bulletins, activities calendars, bell schedules, Principal’s blog, link to teachers’ e-mails, Aeries ABI-Parent Portal, etc.

Go to our website: rev.redlandsusd.net

Page 16: Redlands East Valley High School

https://parents.redlandsusd.net/

ABI will give you access to attendance, grade books, transcripts, student info,

teacher e-mails etc…

Page 17: Redlands East Valley High School

o Poor attendance is the fastest way to fail a class!

o Valuable instruction is lost every time your student is late or absent. Plan family outings, vacations, etc. on non-school days.

o If your student says, “We’re not doing anything today,” he/she’s probably misinformed or avoiding responsibility !

Page 18: Redlands East Valley High School

Seek help/advice with peer problems (teachers, counselor, Security, administrators, etc.).

Emphasize that high school requires a higher level of maturity.

Emphasize: Poor grades=lost units=lost

opportunities/choices.

Teachers-Classroom issues and questions.

Counselors-Scheduling/grades/class concerns.

Administrators-Discipline/attendance/teacher concerns.

Our doors are always open to students and parents.

If your student tells you something of concern, report it. Confidentiality will be ensured.
