Integrated With Literacy and
Technology for Teachers

SSILTT 2016 is a
4-week summer
institute that will
provide teachers
grades 6-8 with
strategies and
resources for
integrating literacy
and technology
into science and
social studies
instruction.
Participants in
SSILTT 2016 will receive:
• Resources and methods for teaching students content area literacy, including:
• Comprehension
• Vocabulary
• Writing in the content areas
• Inquiry based learning
• Technology resources for teaching science and social studies:
• Web 2.0 tools to support instruction
• How to teach the digital native
• Ways to increase rigor and relevance
• Understanding MS College and Career Readiness Standards implementation
• $100.00 per day for 22 days
• Approximately $500 worth of informational books for the classroom and CCR professional resources.
Requirements for SSILTT 2016
Participants must:
• Attend the 4-week workshop, 8:30am to 4:30pm, June 1-28, 2016
• Remain in the teaching profession in the 2016-2017 school year
• Be in a literacy, science, or social studies classroom
• Help conduct professional development for colleagues during the 2016-2017 school year pertaining to SSILTT content
• Participate in evaluation of program and collaborate with the project directors on research
