Thematic UnitsDay Campers will spend their mornings engaged in hands-on activities based on weekly thematic units. Here’s a list of this summer’s grade 3-7 units with some of the fun activities we’ll be doing:

June 4th - 15th: Fear Factor Challenge•How much slime and goo can you take!? Students will

put their skills to test with different experiments and collaborate to design their own challenge at the end of the week.

June 18th - 29th: Summer Olympics•Stay up-to-date with the 2012 London Summer

Olympics while they are happening.•Test your athletic skills by competing in different

summer Olympic activities.

July 2nd - 13th: CSI•Learn about real crimes and how they were solved. •Real detectives will visit school to demonstrate the

tools used in their field. •Learn how the experts solve crimes with fake blood

kits and fingerprint testing.•Create your own crime mystery.

July 16th - 20th: Splish Splash•Participate in different water-themed activities each

morning to keep you cool during the heat of July.•Get ready to get wet with games like water gun fights

and balloon races.

July 23rd - 27th: Off the grid•Enjoy your last week at The New School by spending

fun, free time with teachers and friends!

Pure Summer FunEach morning, activities will center around our thematic units with lots of fun, hands-on learning through arts & crafts as well as language & culture activities. Afternoons will include field trips and spe-cial recreational activities, recess, computer lab, and free time to be social with friends. Plenty of outdoor playtime and daily physical activities will keep your camper fit and make each day fun!

A Place to be Active...The New School’s campus offers excellent facilities for summer fun indoors and out. Our campers’ days are filled with stimulating activities that build physical awareness and self esteem. Recreational activities take place inside our gym or on our spacious outdoor playground facilities and playing fields.

An Environment to be Creative...Each summer unit will consist of fun, hands-on morning activities based on the unit theme. Campers will learn by doing through cooking, crafting, drawing, painting, exploring, sharing, and playing.

A Time to be Social...Each summer day at The New School balances structured activities with free time to let campers choose their own activities with friends. After each day’s afternoon activ-ity, campers spend the rest of the day in a relaxed, so-cial environment with recess, computer lab, and free art time. There is truly something for everyone at The New School’s Summer Day Camp.

Afternoon Field Trips Every Day!

Campers in grades 3-7 go on field trips every afternoon! On these field trips, campers will be transported in our very own New School Bus with special safety seats and seat belts.

Daily Field Trips Include: swimming, Movie theater, Glow Bowl,

Starlight skatium, Lokomotion, Gator

Golf, Ice skating.

Register Today!• Flexible Options: Register full-time by the

month, or create a plan that fits your schedule.•Drop-In Days: Registered campers can drop in

for a full day of camp anytime for $55. Drop in for a half day (lunch and field trip) for just $35.

A New Addition:Summer AcademiesIn addition to our regular Summer Day Camp program, campers may sign up separately for one of our new, week-long Summer Academies. We’re offering 13 different academies focusing on sports, arts, cooking, writing, and technology. Whatever you love, we’ve got a Summer Acad-emy for you!Academies meet each day from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. for one full week. Academy registration is sepa-rate from general Day Camp registration. Camp-ers may attend an academy without signing up for our general Summer Day Camp program. Campers who wish to stay after their academy for lunch and the afternoon field trip may sign up for a summer day camp half-day for just $35.Read about each academy offered in our Summer Academies Brochure.
