T’ai ChiT’ai Chi Chaun is an exercise consisting of slow, relaxed movements that help us develop internal and external balance and harmony. The moves are practiced in a slow controlled fashion that builds strength as well as balance. T’ai Chi Chaun requires mindful concentration similar to meditation. The slow rhythmic movements relax the body and clear the mind. The movements are done with a feeling of buoyancy and lightness as if swimming in air. Another important aspect is the positive effect it has on circulation and stimulating blood flow to the organs. Programs at Brambleton Center are taught by April Ackerman and last 12 weeks. Program at Hollins taught by Denis Spencer and lasts 8 weeks.

Recreation Programs When Green Ridge opens its doors next January, we want to be your one-stop shop for community recreation. We already offer the region’s widest se-lection of leisure programs; from athletics, wellness and outdoors, to cultural arts, life skills and travel. We’ll offer these plus many more fun programs for ages 0 to 99, based out of Green Ridge. Add to that the area’s most unique aquatics facility, and you have a truly exciting recreation destination!

Green Ridge MembershipRoanoke County Parks will begin selling memberships to the center this Fall! Your membership will give you daily use of fitness equip-ment, select group exercise classes, indoor aquatics, gymnasium, walk-ing track, child watch and much more! Look in our September edition of REConnection Magazine for details.

Is Membership Required?NO! There will be affordable day-rate admission fees to use the center and in-door aquatics area year round. In addi-tion, many popular recreation programs you currently enjoy at Brambleton Cen-ter will be duplicated at the new facility. You will still be able to sign up for your favorite recreation programs on an a-la-carte basis.

Splash Valley Water Park Splash Valley will be open from Memorial Day to Labor Day starting next Summer! The water park will feature two slides, a current river, children’s sprayground, zero depth entry, shaded areas and con-cessions.
