Success Pathways at the English Center lends a helping hand at the

Kensington Park's Fall Festival

On Thursday and Friday, October 27th and 28th, the students in the Success Pathways program served as volunteers at Kensington Park Elementary School’s Annual Fall Festival. Students at the English Center eagerly assisted with several activities in the preparation for the festival which included making and painting many of the event’s decorations. Students wore a variety of costumes in order to participate as the characters who inhabited the festival’s haunted house.

The students in the Success Pathways program at The English Center served as role models and joined forces with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Police Department. Students delivered 200 school supply care packages and 25 book bags to “sister” elementary school.

National Red Ribbon Campaign at the English Center

The National Red Ribbon Campaign for a Drug-Free America took place at The English Center in October. The theme was YOLO (You Only Live Once), Be Drug Free. The School held an essay and a poster contest. Essay contest winners included Ms. Maria Jimenez and Ms. Aradia Animi, both from Ms. Pruitt’s class. Poster contest winners included Ms. Ramirez’ class.

Automation and Production

Technology Program at Miami Lakes Educational

Center & Technical College.

Miami Lakes Educational Center and Technical College has launched an Automation and Production Technology Program as a part of its evening tech college curriculum. This program prepares individuals with technical skill proficiency, reasoning and problem solving along with occupation-specific skills in the areas of 3-D Industrial Design/Manufacturing, including Solidworks and Mastercam Certifications.

Individuals who are strong in math and have a desire to create a prototype or manufacture a product would excel in this 4 trimester program. Mr. Paul Kynerd is the instructor for this program. He may be contacted

Lindsey Hopkins Technical College Introduces a New in Demand Career Technical Program

Marine Service Technologies

Lindsey Hopkins Technical College launched a state-of-the-art Marine Technology program; the only one in Miami-Dade County. This new career and technical certification program offers training in inboard and outboard boat engine repair, and prepares students for a career in boat/yacht occupations within the marine industry. We give special thanks to School Board Member Ms. Lubby Navarro, City of Miami Commissioner Mr. Frank Carollo, and the Miami Bayside Foundation for donating over $300,000 to support the maritime industry outlook; such career is in great demand in South Florida.

It’s Miami Book Fair Time! Dorothy M. Wallace-COPE Principal’s Honor Roll students visited numerous

author stations, listened to book talks, won prizes, previewed books and enjoyed the festive atmosphere of the Miami Book Fair.

Dorothy M. Wallace COPE Center Receives Turkey Meal Gift Boxes

Thanks to the sponsorship of President, Mr. Charles A. Gibson, Esquire

and board members of The Theodore R. Gibson Memorial Fund, 10

students and their families received a special Publix turkey meal gift box

to share with their families for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday. Students

were extremely thankful and will exhibit their appreciation by preparing

thank you letters addressed to Mr. Gibson and members of the board.

The Student Government Association members of Miami Dade College-Homestead Campus surprised students with turkey baskets for the Thanksgiving Day Holiday! Each basket was prepared by various clubs represented on the college campus.

College Tour Day at Robert Morgan Educational Center & Technical Center

Robert Morgan Educational Center & Technical College opened their doors November 15th to the community to showcase their Career Technical Programs.

The Culinary Arts program prepared a welcoming breakfast for the morning tour and appetizers and desserts for the evening guests. After the campus tour, the guests attended an informational session regarding the value of Career Technical Education, the steps needed to enter the programs and the availability of financial aid.

D.A. Dorsey Technical College- Spirit of Thanksgiving

D.A. Dorsey Technical College conducted its yearly raffle in support of

students during the holiday season. Ten Turkeys were donated by the

Fountain of New Life to help usher the spirit of giving.
