What is the Problem?

Web site needs to have a variety of updates

Links do not work, information is outdated, layout does not look as good as it needs to

Navigation bars cause user confusion

Our department does not have as effective an online presence as it should

Community Engagement

Community Engagement fundamentally is the process that connects students and faculty to opportunities in the New Britain, CT community.

Through the revitalization of our Web page, we seek to:

Communicate our message about our goals

Determine how we can best assist faculty to implement high quality, meaningful service learning opportunities for their courses.

Instill civic engagement values in CCSU students

What is Service Learning?

Service learning is a method of teaching that combines classroom instruction with meaningful service to the community.

Students and Faculty are able to apply theory to practice

Curricular Connections

Student discussion and reflection

Community partnerships

Meeting authentic community needs

Progress monitoring and Evaluation

What are our Needs?

Develop and deploy a survey asking users about their interactions with the Web page

Create Instructional Design tools to assist with information dissemination

Who is the Audience?

CCSU Faculty, Students and Community Partners

Target each audience so they receive the message about Service Learning relative to their capacity

All ages and technological skill levels will be present

What are our Objectives?

Create a Web page that is responsive to the needs of visitors, in a fluent manner.

Obtain information from the people who are most likely to use the Web page and implement suggested changes to create a better experience.

Make consensus recommended changes

Create a step by step tutorial on Microsoft Word

Use Screencast-o-matic and Audacity to explain my Microsoft Word tutorial

Create a brochure using Microsoft Word

Add interactivity materials like PowToon

Add pictures and videos from events

Audio editing software Audacity

Review answers and determine common themes or suggestions I can use to solve problem
